Liftgate and Rear Window no longer working?

Hello fellow T4R mates,

About a week ago my 2003 T4R Sport Edition began acting up. The vehicle has 173,000 miles on it and has been pretty flawless since it was purchased new. I have recently been experiencing a loss of power in the rear liftgate where it will not open. I go to unlock the vehicle and lift on the handle and it doesn't open. I tried searching and this issue and it seems the majority of members had to replace their locking mechanism citing a motor failure. However, I didn't read about anyone having problems with the window not sliding down either, which my vehicle is experiencing. This leads me to believe that it an issue with power getting to the liftgate. Any input is appreciated, thank you!

UPDATE

The liftgate and window have started to work intermittently...So now I know that the lock motor is still functional. Anyone have an idea of what would cause the random failures I am experiencing?

have you done anything to the gate? I painted the handle black on mine, but when I did it, I removed the handle, and I guess connections got loose on it, and it all stopped working, I opened it up again, basically made sure the connections were okay, and it began to work again. However, now, my license plate light seems to like going out, which is another loose connection, because after a few knocks, it's fine. Just open the weather stripping, and make sure all connections are okay.
