Lifting Limited Quick Question

Just need confirmation that the full-time 4wd system on the Limited is OK if the vehicle is lifted 2-3". I know the part-time 4runners and Tacoma's can develop a front diff needle bearing issue, and that there's a bushing fix for it that works well. Any problems with the Limiteds other than likely scrapping XREAS? I'm looking to get back into a 5th gen. and wanted to double check before I sign any papers.. looking at a Limited this time around for various reasons. Thanks everyone.

Shouldn't be an issue. There are more than a handful of lifted Limited 5th Gens on here including mine.

Both Magnetic4R and I live in the Bay Area and have lifted our Limiteds. Magnetic4R is at ~2.5" and I am 2". There a bunch of others if you search the Lifted thread. I am happy to meet you if you want to check it out and go for a test drive.

When you remove the xreas follow the instructions in this PDF so you can reattach the shocks when you sell the truck or sell the xreas as a unit. Basically you disconnect the shocks at the self-sealing union fittings when all four wheels are off the ground. It is also less messy this way, where as other have disconnected the fittings at the shock itself loosing the fluid.

I have a 2010 LE lifted with the Toytec spacer kit, no issues and still have XREAS.

Awesome, thanks for the offer and heads up on the xreas. I'll let you know what I end up doing here. There's a used 200-series out in Dublin I want to check out but I'll more than likely pick up a Limited t4r.. just gotta find one without the 3rd row which is becoming a little more difficult than I first thought. Should figure it out in the next few weeks so I'll keep you posted.
 
So, I have lifted my LTD, probably a little above 3”; and now under hard acceleration the axle on the driver side skipping traction, also getting a clunk noise, if that makes sense.

I’m also getting a grind noise as if it’s “road noise” from the tires but when I turn on a hard curve to the left, the noise goes away. Anyone experienced this when adding a lift? I currently running the Ironman FCP STG 3, with a Daystar leveling kit.

With it being lifted so high, you need to install a diff drop kit if you have not already done so. The skipping of traction is prob due to topping out the suspension so the tire is starting to unload a bit. The grind noise going away on a turn may be that the outside tire is compressing which starts to put the CV's angle back to a safer position.
 
Going over 3” is nuts. I’d take out the leveling kit because that pushing the suspension to the extremes.

Did you put in a diff drop and aftermarket UCAs?

Aftermarket UCA’s…diff drop coming soon, also I’m almost at 150k so I’m gonna swap new axles…bought it at 125k and this LTD has been from SC, Alaska, Germany, now Italy.

I’d say jump on it like white on rice! Up to 3” you ace! Plus parts are interchangeable with the FJ cruiser and GX platforms…FULLTIME4WD!
