Lifting up question.

Hi all 4runner members.

It's time to upgrade my runner.

My runner is totally stock and need to change tires(245/** 16) anyway. 02 SR5 Sport edition.

I want to put General grabber AT2 285/75/16 but I heard that I need to lift up first. right?

Do I need to remove step bar?? I don't want to lose it. I want to keep my girl hop in my car with smile. Also I'm not going to do crazy off roading.

So, I'm thinking about get OME 881 for front and 906 for rear which 2 inch up right?

So far that's my plans. And changing shocks is next time. (Out of my budget for now)

And which webpage or company are selling OME 881/906 cheap and nice.

ok so if ur gonna get a lift to fit 285/75/16s then u have a choice of going with coil spacers or coils. If u get coils then the 881 and 906 coils are a good setup for a small lift but from wat ive seen most of these guys are only running 265/75/16s. (my 02 sport came with 265/70/16)

U will have to change the shocks at the same time since ull end up breaking the stock ones with OME coils for sure and its costly and takes more effort since the front is a coilover so ull have to get the strut recompressed...

ok and so u dont have to remove the step ups... they can stay on with a suspension or body lift and so itll help keep ur gf happy.

I'm not willing to do high speed offroading or crazy offroading before I change my shocks
But still coils going to break my stock shocks????
Well, I don't really know shocks and lift kits.

If you're not going to offroad at all I would go with a coil spacer lift (Revtek makes a good one). That would give you 3" of height which should fit 285s... if you're rubbing a little you could add on a 1" body lift (4crawler is the only one I know of that includes a front bumper bracket with the lift kit).

I'm not exactly sure if just a 2" body lift would fit 285s without rubbing really bad but if so then that would definitely be your cheapest option. The 3" coil spacer kit would be the next cheapest.

OME 881 and 906's will work with the stock shocks. you won't get as much flex with the stock ones but if you are not doing alot of offroading, then you probably won't even notice it. however to fit 285's you are going to need a minimum of 3 inches with the possibility of a extra 1 inch body lift. so if you want to fit 285's without replacing the shocks, then your best bet is to go with a spacer lift because the OME 3 inch springs require the OME shocks in the front. we have a lift kit that is front spacers and rear coils which also comes with the diff drop.

personally though, i would recommend just saving until you can afford shocks and coil. the ride will be better and it will perform better offroad
