Light bar vs. Good Seperate Lamps

I would take this with a grain of salt due to the fact that he has no information on the china bar. The one thing with buying chinese bars is that there is alot of junk. And I mean alot. I'm not saying this video is rigged or anything, or even that Rigids aren't killer lights. Rigids are some of the best, maybe the best next to Baja Designs. But my 20" china bar has outshined many a 50" china bar because the LEDs and reflectors are total junk, not all bars are made equal!

I didn't listen with sound but does he say if they are both the same beam pattern? cus it looks like the rigid one is a spot beam.

I have no doubt that a rigid bar is better, but 10x the price better?

Once again, why buy a 30" $200 china light bar that draws 120W of power when you can get a pair of quality Rigid Cube lights for $200-300 and a lifetime warranty, draw less current and that put out cleaner, sharper light, possibly more/ better light. :shrug:

Perhaps this is about having the most ____ or the biggest ____ .

You feel like you're getting more for your money cause you have a big row of LED's across your windshield. "They look cool even when they are off!
Who cares about the warranty or quality. I have this cool light bar on my roof/ grille."

I don't currently drive enough at night to justify adding any lights to my truck. (I would probably do a HID upgrade first) But I think if I did, I would go with a good reputable brand and get something good the first time.

Amp draw between LED products isn't an arguing point. The difference between a set of D2s and an e-series 20" bar is 3 amps. Amp draw between halogens and led lights is important. A set of halogens with 130w bulbs will pull 20+ amps which is 3 times more than a 20" bar.

good separate lamps. simple. subtle.
hope you do not use them on the street. The legality is irrelevant to me. the obnoxiousness of the oncoming light is. People love having their driving lights/fog lights/whatever switched on because they like the way it makes their truck look. All it makes a truck look like is an obnoxious A Hole who is too selfish or ignorant to understand how this impacts oncoming drivers.
I drive a 4runner with a 1" body lift yet still wince when some 'bro rolls with his cool auxiliary lights on. It's a lesser version of the insanely bright lights on top of cop cars these days, which are so intense they are actually disorienting.
Anyhow, please use whichever sweet auxiliary lights you mount off road or on empty stretches of pavement. My 50 year old eyes can't take it.

Wait til you get to 65 if you think it's bad now. I remember Cibie having an auxiliary beam lamp years back that would supplement your low beams. It was not obnoxious to oncoming drivers due to excellent beam control. It was designed to be run with both low and high beams on and brightened up the low area for fill when the highs were on. Of course this was with the old sealed beam headlamps which were seriously deficient. If I could find these lamps it would be a no brainer as they were legal to run on the street, but I can no longer find anything like them today, so I am likely relegated to upgrading my present headlamps with one of the mods I have seen. I too think the "fog" lamps on all the time is just silly and indicates a driver that does not know how they are to be used to properly light the lines at the roadside and center in heavy fog or precipitation.

having seen the rigid d2s (6 led ones) and my 40" bar, I would take my bar any day. That is why. It puts out more light, it turns on when i push the button and it looks good to boot.

an irony is my father lane: started using the fog lights on his outback and volvo in his 70's because he found they provided some wide short fill light. i tsk tsk'd him until he told me why. He was my father and in his mid 70's so he got a free pass on most everything, as far I was concerned.
