Light bars: ebay to rigid. Is there something in the middle?

I'd like to put a 30-34" light bar in the bumper opening on my 4th gen.

I can get a 32" '~240W' light bar for as little as $80 on ebay or amazon.
Conversely... A rigid E-series will run me $840 to fit in the same spot. :jaw:


I'm not here to directly debate the quality of rigid vs the china crap.
I understand that you get what you pay for.

What i'm looking for is a consensus on what is better quality than the $80 china stuff but not quite "King of the Hammers" ready like the Rigid.

I have to believe there is something that is good enough quality for guys who wheel 10 times a year, but don't drive 80mph through the desert for a living, and don't want foggy lenses and burnt out LED's.

I'm just a guy with 2 kids and 8 year old 4runner who wants a decent light.

I have some cheap Cree chip dullys and just ordered a 50". They aren't as bright as Rigid and I used the Rigid harness but the cost difference is worth it for me. All I did was add some SS hardware and took the light apart and siliconed all seals.
 
hey man if your going to be at king of hammers you should check out the light bars were running on our trucks we have a 52 bar off amazon that currently is brighter and beating out a 40 inch rigid. Yes it is a 12 inch difference but it is really amazing. I have a list of suppliers that I can get lights from if your interested anything from china to in between all the way to vision-x

We are currently assembling the 41.5" curved and 50" curved bars right now. New reflectors and the military breathers and the new actual, real CREE stamped bulbs/boards. No falsely advertised CREE's. Going to do a light comparison between the 3w Epistars and the new CREE's as well.

We will be at Hammers Sunday-Wednesday so these should be up on the site by Friday.
 
You might check out Superbrightleds - much better than Amazon horror stories you hear about! They've got bars that are IP68 rated and pretty bright. Next step up would be Baja Industires. IP69 rated etc. Rigid quality without the Rigid price...
 
I have the OPT7 C2 30" bar on the front of my Runner. It is bright! It shines pretty well up to about 300 yards. It's a combo bar, so it shines very high and wide. Definitely worth the $$. I'm looking at a 40" to put on my roof next.

I'm waiting for an OPT7 C2 22" led light bar w/ harness shipped from Amazon.com - to be installed on my bull bar. Wait and see - should be nice and bright!

They really are great for the $$. I have 4 of the 3x2 pods also, I just haven't figured out how I want to mount them.

Do you know the difference between the C1 and C2 of the OPT7 bars? I'm looking at getting one but noticed the C1 is cheaper and 30", and the C2 is 32". I assume newer technology and whatnot, but I am with the OP meaning I'm looking for something to get the job done without sending my left arm as payment!

If I remember right, I think the C2 has more cooling fins. I think the optics are the same.

Here's a reference shot of just my headlights. 5K HID in 07 headlights.

The light from the bar is not what I consider a true spot. It'll shine good up to about 300 yards, but the light is very spread out.

Mercy, I'll say that's well worth it. Honestly, wouldn't need a spot out that far anyway. 300 yd with a slight spot and mostly flood would get the job done for me. Main use is for tooling around my land at night getting to the spots where I'll be getting rid of hogs.

Thanks for the pics, that really helps my decision. Also, where'd you get your HID kit?
