Light Pod Fog Light Replacements

I recommend replacing the OEM fog lights with light pods. I was given two Rigid Industries 2x2 light pods, I think they are called duallys, and they fit perfectly in the OEM brackets. It is amazing how everything went together perfectly and I am surprised at how great everything looks. The lights are probably brighter than any purpose-built fog lights or OEM replacements. You can wire it up nicely, and the best thing is that you don't have to add switches on the inside of the car, the normal fog light switch still works. This is a super easy but slightly expensive upgrade, but definitely worth it. Highly recommended, and good luck! BTW this is a 2001 Limited.

Are those the spot, or the flood dually's? I run the floods on my Wrangler and they are awesome! I know that both put out a little over 3000 lumens. Just curious as to the kind of heat that is being applied to the foglight openings of the plastic bumper.

Honestly, I have no idea. I don't really worry about heat because there is about a one inch gap between the front of the light and the plastic. I figured this allows for plenty of airflow. I usually only run my fogs when I am moving. I will try and check what these lights are, they were given to me after they had been taken off of a jeep, so I have no boxes or anything. Do you know how to identify them?

They "should" have a model number on them to help ID as spot or flood

Behind the valence they won't throw 100% of the light they emit, but they are LED and there is no fear of them melting the plastic, even if they were closer.

If it were me, I would consider cutting the round opening up to a square or a larger circle to let more light through, and then move the lights up closer to be flush with the opening.

Nice mod, but I think you are leaving some light on the table, so to speak.

You could tell by simply looking at the front of the light and comparing it to the lights on the website. I simply couldn't tell whether it was a flood or spot from your pics. I've seen a few people running the Dually spots as foglights on their bumpers, and they are outright blinding at night.

Okay so the other day this was brought to my attention; I was on the road when an on-coming tundra passed with his pods on however he had, what seemed like, amber lens' probably to lower the intensity of the light rather than to change the actual color pitch of the leds. Is this unlawful? (Colroado) Wondering if I could order 2 lens covers for the pods and use them with DRL's when it gets dark out without having olice: problems? TIA

I'm sure it would draw less attention and be slightly less bright, but I think that it is only legal to run specifically DOT approved fog lights in traffic.

Realizing this thread is old... is that pod mounted to the factory bracket?

Would love to find some amber pods and do the same.
