Light switch?

My dash lights havent worked since ive had my truck ive changed the dimmer and nothing. I was thinking could it be my light switch and how hatd is it to change that.

If your headlights come on, the light switch is good.
Are all lights on the dash out, or just certain ones?
A bad ground to the dash could be the culprit.

The dash light switch is a variable resistor on the ground side of the circuit. If you bypass it, the dash lights should come on full brightness. If the switch has an open circuit, or is unplugged, the dash lights won't work as they have no ground.

It's possible but unlikely that all your dash lights are blown, or missing. It's pretty simple to remove the instrument cluster to check. Just be careful disconnecting the speedo cable.

his dimmer switch is a grounding switch so if that's bad the cluster lights wont come on.
his circuit strip could be bad also on his cluster i burned one up once and it was easy to replace but its possible
