lightbars and racks

hey folks, i want to get a rack for my '06 so i can haul bike, skis, etc. (thule or yakima) but i also want to be able to throw a bar up there to mount some offroad lights. what have you guys done? post up some picts :bigok:

just drill em to the roof! ;-)

one of my old marine bio teachers had this old ass ford that he had stuck the spare on the roof of, with one single 12" bolt going thru........ looked good! hahaha, sorry im no help man

Hi Crash - I recently upgraded from 'standard' Yakima bars to a Loadwarrior and really like it. I mounted two Hellas to the front, a bike mount that you can't hardly even see from the ground, and have just picked up 2 tiny 50w halogens for aux reverse lights/after-dark boat recovery lights that I'll mount to the rear of the rack this weekend. All the while the Loadwarrior maintains all intended functionality and it's designed to accomodate skis, kayaks etc. like regular bars.

Perhaps something like this would suite your needs. Hopefully some of the seasoned vets of this forum will chime in with additional thoughts for you. I'd take some pix, but everything is covered in snow at the moment.

yeah I did something like that check out my write up. Last weekend I drilled new holes in my yakima light mounts, and now my KC's are hidden behind my fairing. I like it much better this way.
