Lights! Help...

Hey I've got a Yakima Mega Warrior and I was thinking about putting some lights on it, does anyone have any recommendations? I was thinking about the Hella 500's because they're cheap, but I think they might be too big and stick up too high; has anyone tried it before? Pics help!

Thanks

the new hella 500ff's are nice the reason yours aren't bright is your using the stock 55w bulbs get 100w bulbs upgrade the wire from the relay to 12 or 14ga to the lights i wouldn't recommend driving around the highway with them on one reason my lights are tied into the highbeam's

I would just swap a 35W HID kit into those 500's. ddmtuning.com has them for $40.00 a set, I've been running a few of their kits for about a year with no problem, plus they have a lifetime warranty on the ballasts. They work very well in my Hella 500's and glare isn't much of a problem because you should only be running these lights off road. Plus they are mounted to your roof they, would throw off glare with a halogen in them in that high of a location.

i wish i woulda read that i could do an HID conversion for 40 bucks... i went and bought the 100W bulbs. we'll see how much brighter they are... i really dont use my hellas, because my headlights on high are much brighter than my lows and hellas....

Yeah the HID kits from ddm tuning work really well and are inexpensive, I ran them on my motorcycle for forever.

So, the Hella 500's are good but they need brighter bulbs? I guess it's not that big of a deal because the bulbs seem pretty cheap.

Do any of you have these lights mounted on your roof rack? How does it look, are they too big?

I am in the process of building a light bar to mount to my Thule roof basket. It will be mounted on a hinge with a linear actuator attached to it, allowing me to pan the lights up or down from inside the vehicle. I will be using Hella ff700's for the forward facing lights and 500's for reverse/camp lights. All with HID kits of course:D

Sorry I don't have any pictures but I will be sure to post some when I am through.

There are a few images on Yotatech, I will see if I can dig them up for you.

That is going to be ridiculous, but awesome.

Does anyone have the Hella 550 lights? Is the light out put on those pretty good? I think they might be a good alternative to the Hella 500 because they're not as bulky....

one of the reasons for aux lights are so if youy headlights go you have a source of light. seams like a waste to me.

not when you got fog lights that and a constant hot is behind the switch soo all id have to do is switch around the wire if need be

AH HA! I finally found a picture:

I think it looks pretty good but now I'm scared of wind noise and gas mileage...
