Lights on A/C + climate buttons not lit up?

Are all the button labels on the climate control panel supposed to be lit up? As you can see, none of the words on mine are illuminated, only the symbols on the rightmost dial. Seems like the text should all be lit as well..no? It's really hard to see which button you are pressing at night. Just wondering...

Check to see if the bulbs are loose before buying new bulbs, I've had some come loose a couple of times.

I just replaced a couple in my truck yesterday.

Dealer quoted me $8/bulb. After some discussion, I got him to match Amazon prices.

So ultimately, what is the answer to the question. Are HI, LO, UP TEMP, DOWN, etc. supposed to be lit or only the arrows?

Yes, you've got some bad bulbs.

A/C controls

The words “Up Temp” and “Down” don’t light up.

The arrows for “Up Temp” and “Down” don’t light up.

Are they supposed to?

I took the assembly apart and found only two LED on the control board. One for the “Auto” and one for “A/C”. The confusing part is that I’ve seen pictures on the Internet that show the “Up Temp” and “Down” buttons lit up for the same model I have. After market mods?

Note, this is from SPORT Edition 2008. The Limited editions have different A/C controls.

2007 T4R Climate Control Backlights - Specifics?

I am attempting to specifically identify LED replacements for the OEM incandescent bulbs in the climate control panel in a 2007 Toyota 4Runner SR5. Attached photo reflects those OEM bulbs and bulb numbers.

I've seen in other posts that 5630(t4); 5630(t3); and 5628(t3) will work but details are lacking on specific sources and specifically which of these bulbs replace which of the OEM incandescent bulbs.

Also, when trying to identify LEDs, I don't see addressed anywhere the varying height/length of the bulbs.

Finally, I have scoured internet sources and the 5628 is not to be found anywhere. Can someone identify where the 5628 can be purchased? Or is this supposed to be 3528 instead?

In summary, I just need very specific LED identities and sources for each of the bulbs in the climate control panel:

Ah i didn't see that.

There are no aftermarket LED replacements. You have to remove the OEM bulb from the OEM bulb casing. Then insert an LED into the OEM casing.

Here are the LEDs which you can get from any electronics site. The leads have to be long enough to fit into the longest OEM bulb casings. I can't recall which size LED is needed tho. They come in 2mm, 3mm, etc.

This guy does it a different way and uses the following premade LED bulbs

But he states some of them don't lock into the controls like the OEM, so my concern is having those rattling loose at some point and the light turns off.

If you order, make sure you get the color you want. They come in all different colors. They also come in different brightness levels, so you might have to experiment with that.

Reviving this thread cause I had a durp moment and maybe this will help someone else.

So ive owned this truck 8yrs now, and like the OP most my bulbs were burnt out. The arrows still lit up but none of the UP/DOWN A/C etc did. Its been like that since I bought it, so ive never thought much of it nor did I realize that its all suppose to light up. Fast forward to the screen/display bulbs finally burning out, I decided to replace them.

Sooooo, I replaced the bulbs, started the truck and the screen was lit up again, but still only the arrows were lit. Okay so fast forward to this morning on my way to work, go to turn my running lights on and viola, all the lights work. I had NO IDEA they were controlled by your headlight/running light switch.

Just thought it was funny and hopefully this will save someone from thinking their 4R cooler control panel doesnÂ’t light up or their bulbs are burnt/broke after installing them.
