lights

I just saw the word lights and I just had to see what the question was. I think all the brands are great but they come with a price. Around here I am always worried about rocks taking out my lights. I found a cheap alternative and thought I would share. I have probably a dozen extra lights on my rig and they are all sealed truck lights that are nice because you dont have to worry about water getting inside and if they break, you just get a replacement for about 15 or 20 dollars. I have 4 aircraft landing lights on my front grill guard. These are sweet at night when looking out for deer or if you want to reheat your dinner. Anyway I say get the PIAA's.

It just comes down to personal opinion. I love the KC brand of lights. I had 6 KCs mounted on the roof basket of a 2nd gen 4Runner I used to own. I went w/ the KCs b/c one, I wanted the rectangle style lights on the basket instead of round, two, they had to be somewhat thin (meaning from front to back) to mount to the rack, three, the rear lights came w/ interchangeable lenses for different beam patterns and would match the design of the front ones, four, price was much better for the KCs instead of the piaas or ipfs, and finally KC has a 23yr warranty. I mounted four 5x7s up front and two 5x7s in the rear. The 4 up front were 100wts each w/ the "driving beam" pattern. The 2 in the rear were 55wts each w/ the "fog beam" pattern, but could be changed to "driving beam" or "amber fog". Not only were they bright, but they looked good too! I plan on running the same type config on my next basket/light setup and would definitely recommend the KCs to anyone.

Funny story reguarding lights:

I'll never forget, I pulled up to the dry cleaners one day, had my windows down, and an elderly lady pulled up next to me, got out of her car, looked at my basket and lights, then looked at me and asked me through my passenger-side window, "Do you work for Kentucky Fried Chicken?" I thought about her question for a minute, and said, "No, I work for a bank, why would you think I work for KFC?" She looked back, and said, "Well those things up there say KC, I thought you might work for KFC." I just looked back at her and said, No that is the brand of lights I run, it's the initials of the two people that founded KC." She said, "Oh, okay, just thought I'd ask." I thought, that poor lady, she's done lost her mind. Even if I did work for KFC, I wonder what she would have said if I said, "Yes, I do work for KFC." Who knows. Oh well I still laugh to myself about her saying that.

Anyway KCs are great lights!

The only reason I like Hella 500 is well one you can find them for under 60 bucks. And two you can find em at Wallmart. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but if you do a search on this board someone did a very cool write up MOD for a Hella 500 attachment to the front bumper. Just dont bump into anything, and pray that no one backs into you. :D
