Limit straps a good investment?

Here you go. i took these off my build thread. I have been running the setup for awhile now. I think i installed them sometime in the spring. its been great. Troyboy is also now running the some setup as well. I can't run my current shock without them, with the tokicos they were only there to save the shocks but now the cheap white bodies i have are way too long fully extended.

i bout a set of quad wrapped limit straps with the mounts from ruff stuff. These straps are real nice. I was worried about them being to short but trusted the info on the stretch of the straps and they are absolutely perfect. THey are 18" and stretch to 19" and that leaves me around 3/4" before the shocks maxed out. They are perfect.

Over all: I used the bottom shock mount. I used a bolt that was about 1" longer so it is way in the mount

Label on the strap. I was reading somewhere ruff stuff uses a local rock climbing company that makes nylon straps for these. Must be the company's name. Im stoked on the quality. And it was under $60 shipped for 2 straps. 4 mounts and hardware

I have the LC8 w/ Bilstein 5100s. A pretty common lift. Do you think the same 18 inch strap is just right if I go w/ your setup?

I know best way is to detach my sway links and let the shock droop to it's max then take measurements, but it's hot outside and I wanted to ask before I did that.

This looks like a cheap mod, so I'm interested.

The 18's are good. i have a friend who was running the same length with LC springs for awhile you can always mount them a little different to change the place where they are finally tight.

You'll probably be fine without them. Ideally you would like limit straps and bump stops to be limiting the suspension and the shock (which on the stock setup limits down travel) to solely be used for damping purposes.

So I've removed my rear sway bar and don't have a welder. Could I run limit straps from the sway bar mount on the frame to the mount on the axle (or the lower shock mount)?

By testing the suspension travel. Remove the shock/coil assembly and test the suspension down travel. You then fine tune to where you feel your at the limit of the cv shaft. Then install shock/coil and test down travel to make sure the UCA is clearing the coil. If you have contact you then shorten the limit strap to limit travel.

+1 for limit straps. Always a good idea to prevent shock damage
