Limited or TRD PRO???

Hello all, long time lurker but probably first post.

I had a 99 4runner for about 5 years, now I'm in a 99 land cruiser for the past 2 years. I am considering getting into a new 4runner, either a white limited w the redwood interior or a white trd pro.

I loved the way the limited interior looks and feel. Has all the nice bells and whistles. The exterior I'm ok with. I think it looks good, but not badass like the trd pro! It'll be a second vehicle, I have a 08 GS350 that I switch off with randomly. I probably won't ever go mudding or off roading. Tahoe trips, beach trips, camping trips, nothing crazy.


Just looking for opinion from real world experts, what do you guys think?

Based on what how you described your intended usage I would go for the Limited.

+1 on the Limited. you already love the 'feel'. and it will handle the road work better than the Pro will. Plus, the Limited is as capable as you'll ever need in case you come up on some snow, or any soft off road use.

The Pro is bad-azz, sure...but at some point the off-roadness will dip into your comfortable...and then you might wish you had made a different choice.

+2 on th limited. If I never planned to offroad or get dirty. The limited would be my choice. I might actually try to talk the wife into a limited when it's time to trade in her car. The limited's just look so good in black and grey. Good luck with whatever you choose. They're 4runners, they're all good!
 
I am biased for the TRD Pro...but if you have no intention at all of going off-road then the Limited has all the bells-and-whistles you want.

I went trail riding in a group where I was the last in the line and behind a 2015 T4R Limited. He was driving extra cautiously to the point where we often got left behind by our group. I didn't have to take it as easy but didn't want to leave him behind so I stayed with his pace.

At the very end he went into a dip and tore off the underside plastic to the front bumper and supporting underbody plastic cladding. He did also mention that he was bottoming out a lot through the rocky trails and creek/water crossings.

I mention that so that you are sure that you don't want to go off-road!

The Limited's, off-road limitations by my observations that day were the tires (road-oriented, all-season) and perhaps all the extra body cladding down around the "skirt" of the whole truck reducing approach angles and clearance when getting jostled around. Otherwise the Limited as you already observed has all the luxury features that make it a nice road-trip hauler and yet at it's base is still a very capable off-roader.

Definitely the Limited. I'd trade my 14 Trail for a Limited in a heartbeat. I should have bought the Limited first.
 
Sounds like the limited is everyone's pick. I basically want a limited that looks like a pro... Anyone have a picture w a white limited w trd pro wheels?

That is a good idea, you get the luxury of LTD without having to put up with the pizza tire look. FYI, easy to sell the stock tires wheels, took me two days via Craigslist. Body shops want them. Good luck!
 
I was pondering the same also. I decided to get the limited as well. Hopefully just a few day or two more and I can get my new ride. [emoji1]

Here you go Johnny. White blacked out limited with pro wheels. Takes some time but you can make them look pretty bad as*

If you want a plush highway cruiser, I wouldn't even bother with a 4RUNNER. There's any number of crossovers out there that will do the job better for cheaper.
 
Does anyone even buy the SR5 anymore?

This site seems lousy with TEs, Limiteds, and BroPros.

Save cash and get the SR5, especially if you have a bunch of other cars. Then donate your LC to me.

Sounds like the limited driver just needs to learn how to drive. Perhaps he was just being careful not to scrape the chrome
