Limited running boards black trim removal/paint.

Anyone removed the black rubber trim from the running boards on the limited. I would like to possibly paint them and remove all the grime, and leaves, etc. from undeneath them. And yeah I know, I should probably just remove them :flipoff:

Just remove them. You will like the look much better.

I'm having a hard time visualizing what piece are you talking about. I haven't had running boards for a long time lol. do u have a pic?

I wouldn't paint it as it will be extremely slipery. Try cleaning and using a rubber dressing on it first. It will be slipery initally but will look good after a few washings.

Without the mounts one side running board consists of an alumimum running board with a black rubber stepping pad, two painted end pieces a painted trim piece which is between the end pieces and the stepping pad.

All of the pieces are slid together on the alumimum running board.

Take the end pieces off first and you should see how the board is put together. To get off the rubber piece you might have to loosen the nuts holding the alumimum board to the brackets and slide them as far away from the body as you can and slide the rubber piece towards the front or rear to remove.

I use Wesley's Bleach White on the rubber to clean it. Just remember though Wesley's is a strong cleaner and will eat paint if left too long so I wouldn't clean them on the car.

That stuff works wonders on rubber floor mats too.
