When I brought my '16 4Runner in for it's 5,000 mile service I asked them to program the fob so I could open the windows, but they said it could only be done with Limiteds?

I had that done on my 15 Trail and it worked fine. I rather doubt it was deleted.

They did it on my 17 Pro. I took it to them and they said that the 4R couldn't do it. I told them to plug in the tech stream and check. They said hmm what do you know. And programmed it for me. They also took away the seat belt chime.

You can kill the rear gate door chime by moving the closure latch with a screwdriver or your finger. Close the latch all the way and you’re set. Just don’t forget to hit the ‘open’ button on the outside of the gate to reset the latch before you try to close it!
You can also use the closed latch as a tie point to keep the rear gate door partially closed while hauling.

just ordered an OBD adapter called Carista. has a phone app that can go with it and you can get a free 1 month trial with the purchase of the adapter.
apparently you can change these customizable settings through the app.
the adapter was only 30 bucks and ill cancel the subscription after i finish my settings
will let all of you know how well it works when i get it. in the meantime, you can read up on it

I did this last month. I just bought a $5 Bluetooth OBD2 reader off eBay and launched the carista app on my phone and it recognized the reader right away and after paying the $10 I was able to change all the settings in about 10 minutes if that.
You can also run all codes and clear any that might still be in memory.
Just gotta remember to cancel the carista app before the auto renewal starts.

I read the list of functions and it seems to have almost everything I could think of that I’d want to change.
One last thing I want to get rid of is the beep when CLOSING a door with the vehicle running.
The closest thing I could find is turning off the beep alarm when trying to lock and door is still OPEN.
Anyone know how to kill the beep when closing a door to a running car but the key isn’t in it?
(Example: you might have the car running while loading bags before leaving for vacation)

Good to know about the app. In the JKU world, I ran an ODBII program that allows for everything any sensor could do. Change RPM settings, TPMS levels, seat bel chime, monitor injectors, 02 sensors, A/F ratio, trans, engine, oil coolant temps, adjust those tolerances, everything. It was a great tool to use, especially to diagnose check engine light codes.

the only one i didn't see that i wanted to change was opening all windows with the key function to open the sunroof to a tilt instead of slide open.
seatbelt chime was turned off for both driver and passenger seat.. i was able to adjust my rear wiper timing.. couple of other things also, but id say it was a good buy.
the whole process only took about 15 minutes, which most of that time was spent letting the obd reader gather the info from the car.

I'm also interested in having the sunroof to a tilt only instead of sliding open
i believe it will only be able to get changed at the dealer. maybe they have a few more options they're able to change.
i went through all of the categories on the app and double checked for the sunroof tilt option

You need Techstream to change that setting. I sent a debug log to Carista, and they confirmed their software couldn't see that option. I did find a guy with Techstream to change it for me though. Also, what year is your 4Runner? Mine is a 19, and I couldn't unlink the sunroof from the windows, only could choose between tilt or slide.
