So I've had this 4runner for a whopping 3 days now and I just got a battery today. When I try to start it there is nothing whatsoever. None of the fuses I looked at were bad but I only checked the obvious ones in the engine bay. So if anyone can help me there that would be sweet. And can anyone tell me what this black box is and if it is supposed to be connected to anything?

If your new toy has an old alarm that has been sitting it could be causing the non starting issue. I would open the covers on the steering colum and see if there are any splices in the wiring harness and if so reconect them the factory way. I had to do this on mine when I got it.

Nothing... as in no sound, light? Checked you battery? Got a voltmeter? Next to our senses, a digital multi-meter is the most important diagnostic tool for our classic runners.
What truck so others can help you with schematic? A problem well-stated is a problem half-solved.
Look in all the little niches on the driver's side below the gauge cluster. usually this is where the over ride button is placed when an alarm is installed. Usually a small round push button that you have to press when you turn the key after replacing a battery or setting off the alarm.
I've found quite a few on old rigs, and its the easy fix until you get the old alarm guts removed.
