Little things I do...

Do you do little things that you hope extend the life and health of your vehicles, things beyond the usual things like agressive maintenance schedules, synthetic oil, etc..... I'll start.

1. Turn the A/C on at least once a week, even when it's cold outside, just to make sure it gets worked on a regular schedule.
2. Do the same with the heater, even when it's warm outside. It also helps to keep smells out of the A/C system.
3. Don't turn the wheel very much when starting from cold, to baby all the steering parts until you get going.
4. When parking in the garage, put the parking brake on just enough to keep the vehicle from rocking back and forth on the parking detent on the auto transmission, but not enough to put any strain on the parking brake system.
5. Only change the oil when it really warm.
6. Only check the tire pressure before any driving, and check the spare, too (what a pain in the 4Runner).
7. Clean the engine with Pledge Furniture Polish to keep it looking like brand new. And keeps the battery looking new without corrosion and grease on the poles.

Sounds like we were separated at birth. I am lucky that my wife also treats the vehicles the same way. The reason I hate to buy used vehicles is that 90% of the owners out there are not like us.

I think I wil add # 7 to my 2005 New Years Resulotions, I really liked how bright the engine compartment was when I first open the hood. My husband will think I am nuts. I don't even use pledge in the house, I just suck everything that gets in my way with a Dyson Animal.

This is just a little thing, but I got a fab. mop-type, cloth brush from Brookstone. It has some type of oil finish to it, and when you run it over the exterior of your car, it makes it look great.
I got this for a black Ford Explorer I briefly had (didn't like it), carried it forward to my silver 4-rnr., 4 years ago, and I am now using it on my new Salsa Red sport.
I have always garaged my trucks, so I generally use it at the end of the day when that truck is in for the night.

It does a terrific job!

Yeah, I'd love to see some photos of a red 4 runner also. Red is my fav vehicle color also. My work vehicle is red and my previous car was also red. This salsa red for 2005 SR5 has me hotter than a salsa pepper. I would have went to ends to locate a Red 4runner when I bought my 2004 if the color was available.

It does a terrific job!

Becareful with those. They usually attract dust/dirt and can scratch your paint. You'll see them as swirls on your red 4Runner.

Red was my second choice. They look really nice in person.

I don't really care for clean cars. I've had my 4runner for about 2 months now and I've washed it once. I don't buy cars to clean, I buy them to drive. My M3 looks like crap but mechanically, it's perfect. Drives like it's on rails . I'll probably do the same with the 4runner.
