Lock Problems

So the previous owner of my 99 Limited (my sister) smashed the back end into a tree which required the rear hatch to be replaced. So my father being the kind man he was found a new rear hatch that was color matched but from an SR5. Ever since the new door was put on, the locks will not work unless the car is started. If i want to unlock my car I have to start my car and then unlock it which is such a pain in the . Plus the driver's door lock doesn't work period! If anyone could help that would be great! Inside the rear hatch is a small computer that controls operation of the electric stuff back there. There are a couple of different computers over the different year models and trims, so chances are the hatch you got had the wrong one for your needs. The hatches themselves are virtually identical, so you'll need to look at the numbers to be sure. The two most common part numbers are 69690-35011 and 6969-35030.

I had the exact same issue after having my hatch replaced after an accident.

I didn't have to do this, but I am guessing it should be fairly straight forward as long as nothing is riveted in or anything.

The mounts are riveted in. The computer might be able to slide off. I don't want to try too hard though. The part number is 6969-35030 on the computer.

If you didn't have to replace the computer how did you fix the locks?
