Lock/ Unlock Button

I have the push button that goes on your key chain to lock and unlock your car. It locks and unlocks my 4runner just fine, but thats not the problem. When I use it to lock the car, then the actual key to unlock it, as soon as I open the door the alarm goes off. I really would like to use the button, but I cant if this happens if I were to just happen to use the real key for some reason.

Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening, short of disconnecting the whole alarm system?

(Sorry the first paragraph was so wordy, I hope ya'll understand it)

Do you have an after market security system? What year is your vehicle? I do not have this problem maybe someone else has had this happen to them.

its a secutity reason, it happend to me b4 and i didnt have my alarm remote with me so i was in the parking lot trying to figue out how to turn my car off.... well there is the alarm on and off switch by your left foot on the kicker pannel (thats just for you who dont know what it is) if you just flip that switch it should turn off your alarm and you should be able to start your car....

but really as for your problem... on such a basic modle 4runner as the 96 is its only for security reasons.... ether put up with it or turn your alarm off by fliping that switch.

if that all dosnt make any sence let me know and ill try to explane it better

i have the switch in mine. im not sure if it was the stock security system or not. I lost the clicker thingy a while ago.

Once you put the key in the ignition and start the car, the alarm will shut off .....

My '99 doesn't have an off/on switch for the alarm - to disable it, it's got to be disconnected...
