This last spot was the one where the front locker truly proved itself. It took me 4 attempts to get up this and it only took Kraze one.

I've Always wanted to lock the front. I've been afraid though, especially since I popped a cv with the open front diff. Might be a good time for kraze to put some of those lotus axles to the test .

Adding the ARB locker to the front was the best thing I did to help off-road prowess with IFS

A locked front diff is a big responsibility, one must use caution to protect the other components. Jeep guys love to hate Dana30's, yet capable wheelers use them, and don't break shit.

Used properly, they won't be a problem.

I wheeled mine pretty hard for a year with the ARB and never really broke a CV. An Autozone one did fail, but I drove home on it.

Yes,you have to pay a lot more attention, and use more caution....I would recommend that you have plenty of experience before getting one. Especially an Aussie where you can't disengage.

I can disengage the passenger side, which effectively makes it an open diff again, in the sense that the two front wheels can spin at different speeds. I used it quite a bit yesterday :bigok:

But yeah, you do have to be cautious about what you're doing when you wheel with the front locked.

RE the front locker, I wheeled with a guy in Moab who was running an ARB locker up front on a 1st gen Tacoma w/stock IFS.... but on 37's!!! He broke a couple CV's that week, but he was running some of the harder (er..est) trails... ie Helldorado in Area BFE.

When the time and money is right, I hope to lock the front of my rig and won't worry about it for a second. Nice pics, vids, and rigs guys.

I know pictures and videos never do the harder trails any justice, but man, that video makes that last hill climb look incredibly tame! Maybe we should've left in the parts of us stumbling/falling up/down the hill so people could get a sense of how steep and loose it was haha.

And that second time I lifted a tire on the water tower line looks like nothing on video too! I swear, 4runners have the absolute perfect wheel base... for not making it through that line haha. I do think I would have a better chance with dual cases, or dare I say it... an automatic :wow:
