Locks not working

I have a problem with the power locks on my car. With my remote i can unlock the car (all doors) however i cant lock the doors at all. When I try to lock the doors with a door open i get the usual ring sound . The same with the inside. I can unlock but not lock the car. Any help would be appreciated.

what year are you ? there are 2 differing alarm modules

Are you sure that one of the "door open" indicators is not on at the dash?

its a 99 limited. and yeah no lights on the dash.

okay being a 99 like me I am pretty sure you are the RS3200
alarm module -techies chime in you know what you are talking about....

and do some searching on those threads here-on Yota Tech or on Ultimate Yota and that should get you closer.


I think there was a posting similar to this awhile back, I read a lot of these so I am not sure where it was. I am no kind of mechanic.

You know how the Runner will not let you lock the doors when the key is in the ignition? My guess is the alarm module thinks the key is in the ignition....

I believe you have to "reset the memory" or some such procedure, but I lack specifics....

I bet a dealer could figure it out for some small amount or small first born child.

SO how do you lock it exactly or you can not at all?

Thanks for the information. I will have to look those up when i have some more time.

As for locking the door i just do it all manually. its a pain and i dont even think my back door locks period (or atleast i dont know how to lock it).
