I drive my 4Runner in Manhattan from time to time. It's a great choice for that. It's big enough to put fear into most cars, and at least leave you equal to the taxis. You can blast over potholes and steel plates that would cripple regular cars. The height gives really needed visibility to plot your lines as you try to weave your way up a crowded avenue. Plate bumpers would be awesome....someday. You can park in most spots, and being able to jump a curb helps from time to time, as does the ability to park on top of a snow pile without fear of getting stuck.
The bummer is the 4Runner is on some ridiculous NYC official list as an "oversized" vehicle that get you hit with a painful premium on top of the already criminal NYC parking garage rates. Bigger sedans that take up more space don't have to pay this. Pisses me off.
