Lone Star Jamboree! May 3-6

I generally get most of my wheeling in Thursday afternoon, all day Friday, and Saturday morning. I'm of the opinion that around Saturday noon there are so many rigs on the trails you spend more time pulled over waiting for people to pass the opposite direction than you do driving. I usually park after about 11 on Saturday and just socialize for the rest of the weekend. I have tried to recommend they change all the trails to one direction only as of Saturday morning but that's a lot of cats to herd and get the word to.

I would recommend you stick to the 1 and 2 diamond stuff on first half of your first day, then ask around for the 3 diamond trails as you build confidence in your ride. I tend to stay with 3 or lower because I am only 2" lifted and still on 31's. I don't mind pinstripes but I'm not out to bend anything. :biggrin2:

I normally lurk here since I drive a FJC but my wife drives a 4Runner and you can do 1-2 easialy with a stock 4Runner.

Here is my wife's '16 on a trail only thing we had on it at the time was rock rails. Stock skids, no lift and street tires.

We were the winch point not the winched.

Hers though isn't close to stock now. We will also be at the arklatex site camping about 30' from CJ.

im headed there, all the way from Odessa Texas. Should get there late thursday evening. Wheel friday as long as i can stand it, do the beginners night ride, then maybe camp road or linda gail on saturday, pack up sunday and head home.

its a good time, great vendors, great raffles, i highly recommend it. I went in 2015 & 2016 and missed last year due to a conflict. This year I will be there!
[MENTION=105481]3wbdriver[/MENTION] is spot on. I recommend going on trails with other rigs that look like yours or guys willing to do "easier" but still very fun and challenging at times trails. Do NOT be afraid to take the bypass. I have to drive my rig the 6+ hrs back home, i will be taking it easy.

Only thing that MIGHT be nice is a cb radio. Not a must, but its much nicer to hear whats going on on your ride if you can.

I will try to add a few pictures over the weekend but just wanted to put in a quick plug for anyone who was on the fence about heading to the Jamboree. I had to leave early (work) but had a great time. The hosts did an awesome job getting setup to handle the mad rush on Thursday morning, the trail guide and markings around BMRA were great, and everyone I had a chance to wheel with was cool. I also wanted to thank everyone here on the forum for encouraging people to get out to the event.

After hitting a few mild trails to double check that everything was solid (lockers, last minute tweaks, and the driver), I found a fun group to run with for the afternoon. We did a hill climb, a short ravine run, and then we hit Weenie World and Twister. With some good spotting and a little luck we all made it out with a few scrapes but no real damage.

I hope everyone there has a great weekend and I will look forward to heading back to Barnwell later this year, and for the Jamboree in 2019!

I'm willing to bet you that has to be one of the venders who can afford to bend stuff and fix it the same week. But I have to admit I would love to be able to do this!!!!
