Long/Misleading Lead Times on GOBI racks.

It arrived!

My stealth rack showed up right about the 21 week mark. Everything looks great except the missing sun roof insert (which they said they will ship asap). Build quality looks solid as hell. Hoping for the temps to rise a bit in UT so i can get it installed . The wait does look worth it, at least from what i can tell while its sitting in my basement. After 11 years using the stock FJ cruiser rack on my last rig i am excited to see how loading camping gear is going to go.

What's the benefit of ordering a Gobi rack via Trail Duty vs. direct through Gobi?

What's the benefit of ordering a Gobi rack via Trail Duty vs. direct through Gobi?

At the time I ordered mine, Trail Duty was honoring the "older" price of the rack while ordering directly from Gobi was $100 more. That was the main reason I went through Trail Duty.

I'm at 15 weeks and Trail Duty called me the other day to let me know my rack is ready to ship.

Rhino Rack or Front Runner. They are rugged, more versatile, mostly aluminum so rust isn't an issue, and you'll have it in about a week.

Ordered mine - Stealth no rise - September 7th, 2017 received January 31st, 2018. Installed February 10th, 2018. The rack is so well built, is easy to install, and looks awesome-IMO.

I see you went with the no rise option. Looks good ! Ordered mine as such on 1/11 and am even more anxious now after seeing yours with the same option. Good looking truck.

how this business has not managed to ramp up production to meet demand after being in business for some long i will never understand.

all they have do to is put metal on a jig and weld it. they should have an inventory of these ready to go by now...

Credit card was charged this week. They sent some info about the shipping company calling me when it gets here.

SSO racks are full length, all aluminum, and no drilling is required. Our wait times are currently in the 4-6 week range, but we are ramping up production to keep them in stock.


A little birdie tells me that a tax sale is going to happen from March 1-31 that is good for 15% off all roof racks, too. Just something to think about......

requires drilling...ugh

Drilling isn't the end of the world, seal it up properly and check it every now and again and you're set. I have a hole drilled in my roof for my wiring.

Dam near 5months for a part, when I lived in the UK I shipped a turbo carcass here to have it custom build and took my engine to have new valves, forge pistons the lot done, happened in 12 weeks! (that included shipping through customs etc etc)

How comes production times are so slow?? I want one but if I'm ordering it, its to use it in a few weeks not half a year later..

Mine was 19 weeks as well from start to finish.

Installed it this weekend and absolutely love it. I knew what to expect going into it because of this forum and I plan on having my truck for 10+ years so 19 weeks wasn't a huge deal to me.

I do wish they had better customer service but like others have said the only way to change that is to have people stop buying their product.

Agreed, just a shame that they won't spend the resources to be great on all fronts.

Just a heads up guys.

Gobi says it'll be 8-12 weeks on racks. Im on my 14th week and my rack still hasn't shipped.

Their products are great but communication is no bueno with them.
