Long Travel Suspension 3rd gen

So who makes all those wide fenders?

Glassworks, McNeil Racing (mine are), Fiberwerx, Hanneman, etc. 1st gen Tacoma glass bolts up with no modifying and a few companies have 3rd gen specific fenders (only difference being the indent line going to the corner light versus following the wheel well like the Tacoma).

lets keep this rolling

Doesn't really matter who you get the glass from. They all fit like crap and have to be trimmed and massaged to make fit right.

For those that have gone the LT route, was it worth it in the end performance wise over an extended travel "Mid travel" setup? I know Patio did a stock length with secondary bypasses up front using the Total Chaos kit. I'm at a point where I need to figure out if the cost to LT is worth the benefit over running stock arms with secondary bypasses. with 13-14" max on the total chaos kit and 10-11" I think on the stock length extended travel setup, is the 3" more travel worth the difference?

Been considering the solo motorsports 18" kit but that price is double what the TC kit is. Granted there is the potential for much more travel. But if there is no way to get more than say 12" out the of the factory rear setup, is it worth getting that much out front.

If one were to swap a DMZ Deaver SUA kit, we are limited on the up travel available which is where the majority of the new found travel comes from.

Lets keep this thread going as I really want to peel this option apart.

I'm looking to do this down the line and have been doing some trimming and prep work on my current fenders to avoid the 'flare' fenders. Now they don't bother me at all to have them, but wanted to try to save some money and paint time. I'm working on mastering the sheet metal and have a friend who's pretty much got it down. Use 120 vs 240 (learned the hard way, haha), but that being said I do know I will have to eventually go to it, or have no 'fender'.

Anyone have a suggestion on what they matched or paired with the rear setup on Camburg complete LT? I was looking at keeping my toytec superflex coils and doing the Fox Reservoir shocks.

I personally like the extra handling ability i got and obcourse driving faster on rough terrain was the main objective
As for the rear either go coilovers wich involves more $$ and time i went for a cheap routh got some fox IFP shocks and now im waiting for my OEM 890's i sont want a tall stance

Here are a few options from Solo Motorsports.
One being the 14" LT kit (cost less than TC)
The 18" LT kit (still works with 4x4 with modified axles, but is twice the cost of TC)
They also have mid travel upgrades.

Personally, I've had a great mid travel set up (extended travel ICON 2.5 coilovers, Light Racing UCAs). I had a ton of travel, but wish I could have more. I'll be aiming towards the TC 13" LT kit or the SMS 14" LT kit. I haven't decided yet.

As for the rear, it depends on how crazy you want to get. The way I see it, there are three options.

1: 4link the rear, build custom coilover shock tower in the rear cab, cover it up some how to keep cab enclosed, but have the covers be removeable for maintenance. Run bypasses as well. Modify fenders and wheel wells.

2: Leaf spring swap with chevy 63" leafs (modified packs of course) and bypasses, still cutting into the cab, modifying the fenders and wheel wells.

3: Keep it mid travel with a good resi shock. (won't gain travel, and will likely bounce around trying to keep up with the front. I had this issue with a built mid travel front, so I can only imagine it'd be worse with a LT front.)

Of course, there are many many options you can do, and the possibilities are endless if you or some buddies have any sort of fab skills.

Just my $.02

Long-travel Hilux Surf (basically the same thing as our 3rd Gen 4runner):

Linked and tied into a cab cage, bypass & c/o's on all 4 corners, side exit exhaust, a home made snorkel and a rear end that's got the biggest truss on it I've ever seen on a stock Toyota axle. On a Hilux Surf with the fender mirror to boot! Where did you find this thing?

LT rear

Figured I'd post a little something here as I've finally pulled out the old wallet and have been placing orders for rear parts. I'll be gutting the links and going leafs and bypasses. Goal is to keep the back seats and rear doors functional (which basically ruled out links)

So far:
- 2003 Sequoia complete rear axle at the house
- Deaver custom leaf pack (4-6 weeks out) ($900 in case anyone decides to join the fun)
- Total Chaos 12" shackles, gussets, and front spring hangers (courtesy of ORW)
- RuffStuff SUA long travel deaver WIY kit

Friday I'll be ordering the King 2.5x16 triple bypasses, and then taking my wife to dinner to soften that blow... If King's not too backed up they should be here around the same time as Deaver. September is looking mighty promising.

Not sure what I'm going to do about rear glass, since it's going to look pretty stupid with a wide axle, cut-up wheel wells, and no coverage. That being said, I may do nothing just to be "that guy".
