Long travel

So as I am getting closer to order parts for my runner I find myself searching for long travel builds and find its hard to locate them. How many runners on here actually have a build thread that have long travel.

On here, Snivilous is the only one I can think of, there aren't a whole lot of long travel builds on 4Runners around, the only other notable LT 4Runners I can think of are a 1st gen and a 4th gen. For the front end looking at 95-04 Tacomas will give you a good idea since it's the same platform, for the rear end, you're on your own when it comes to figuring it out.
 
Yeah there is one other two I have not looked at snivilous build yet. Yeah I was hoping to get info on the rear. I plan on running icons and have talked to them about doing rear bypass shocks for me. Ok my bad that's the one I have seen. I have read his thread a couple times and even pm'ed him. He has all the square tube on his build. There is another one also I can't remember his name on here.
 
I have talked to Scott a couple times. I'm actually patiently waiting on my rear bumper to ship. His runner is awesome, just a bit taller then I want mine to be. Thank you also. I'm not a complete newb just been a long week. Wife left on a det to Nellis air force base and I'm home with two kids.

It's all good I wasent trying to be a dic*k, just a lot of useless threads lately. I was TDY at Nellis for a while, sounds like she got the better deal there.
 
Yeah it's her first time out there. I have not been to Vegas since I sema back in 2013. I get the useless thread thing. Thanks for heads up on Scott's build. I overlooked all the sas threads cause they all sit taller then I want. I may be able to pull some ideas from there.

I'd look on the the other Toyota forums they seem to be more into LT then this one.
 
Here is my build. It is really outdated because I gave up on keeping it. I normally go to TW or dezertrangers if I need any info.

Required LT pic, because LT 4runners are a blast.

What is the actual benefit of long travel on a 4runner?

I had Rubicon, with a Rubicon express long travel lift. I learned two things. 1. I hate jeeps and 2. long arms require more maintenance than I want to deal with.

It is possible that it was just the Rubicon express system, but I was doing annual bushings. I literally had to go through the entire suspension once a year.

It was a royal pain in the ass.

Outside of Moab competition wheeling, I don't understand what the benefit would be on a 4runner. Of course I only think I know everything since sleeping in a Holiday Inn Express, that one time, so if there is someone who has information on the benefits, I would love to here it.

So you can mob though the desert at 100 mph instead of 35 mph. Plus people like to jump their rigs.

This really isn't a good comparison. A long arm kit on a solid axle is completely different than a LT kit for IFS. Well I guess they do give you the same result which is more travel. But a long arm kit keeps the axle and shock at the same geometry and retains the stock track width. They are designed for crawling and loads of flex.

Long travel IFS kits change the track width of the vehicle (usually 3.5" wider on both sides for anything besides a race kit), changes coilover geometry, and allows for air bumps and bypass shocks. Like [MENTION=71420]masphx[/MENTION] said they are design for high speed stuff. They do crawl but that isn't the original purpose for the majority of kits out there.
 
I know, mines a GenII, but you can do this with a long travel 250 miles from home and drive it back when you're done!!
