Long trip

Any tips for a long trip? I'm driving 1100 miles in two days, then seven days later I'll be traveling 1400 miles.

Moving from CA to MS, wish I could stay in CA, but the military wants me to go.

pogy bait.

Lots of pogy bait....er snacks in old army lingo.

I gots to have beef jerky. Lots of beef jerky. with plenty of good hot coffee. Cooler of ice cold Red Bull.

Some real food like good sandwiches when your stomach turns sour from eating beef jerky and old coffee. Nothing like a good hot sandwich to put enenrgy back into your body.

Lots of CDs. Some rock, some jazz, some classical.

Small bottles (those trial size I call "one-night stand kits") of mouth wash, toothbrush, and astraingetn face cleaner, wash rag. After 6 hours, you will feel like a greasy, smelly slug. SO pull over and gargle, brush, and wash your face with some astingent. You'll feel much better nad you won't smell like roadkill. And you'll wake up and feel much more refreshed.

USed to drive 14 hours from Las Cruces NM to Los Angeles overnight AFTER a full day's work. Would catch a nap about 2-3 in the morning by the side of a dark turn off just as I am seeing those gremlins on the side of the road like William Shatner in that Twilight Zone movie about the gremlim on the wing of an airplane.....

I just do Northern Cal to LA several times a year.

Don't want to go looking for a CLEAN gas station restroom so I take those travel size bottles with me to rise and wash.

With any long trip -- stop every two hours or so to get out and stretch your legs. It's important -- keeps you awake and prevents problems associated with sitting down for long periods of time.
