Sorry to see that. B@st@rds! Will your insurance cover it? Can you get a closeup of the inside? It it metal or also plastic? Don't forget to bandage the wound with duct tape (that won't fix it but will add temporary "character" until you get something new.)

I don't want to get insurance involved for $500. They will raise my rates through the roof and it isn't worth the aggravation. The inside is also made of plastic and the silver part is just hollow. Duct tape is not a bad idea either. That fixes anything.

I don't think there is a way. The hole is very big and it is in a weird shape. Before I do anything, maybe somebody can give me a solution tomorrow at the meet.

I will probably leave my house around 10:15. I am only 25 minutes away from Harolds.
 
Well, i get on the TP at exit 11, from the parkway. are you anywhere around there, or are you south of that. If not, while the other guys are going to caravan down, so can we

i know how you feel Mark, mine cracked a hole in it about 1 1/2 yrs ago. i think i started a few threads about how i tried to replace the sport bumper with nuts and bolts for the holes. after seeing the quality of this piece, i wasnt going to fork over the $ for this to happen again another day.
anyway, the nuts and bolts only covers the hole when i took off the bumper and i wasnt too happy with that. i ended up ordering a lower bumper cover from Toyota and replace it. looks good as new. i'm just a little pissed that i spent the $500-$600 for this piece when i bought my truck.

You really need to adjusted to the added 3-4 inches of length to the front of your truck when you first put on the bar. ;):

My dad actually had the same problem with the rear bar when he was backing up......accidentally tapped a guy. Cool thing was that he ran into the restaurant to find the guy and the guy let him off since it was really minor. it pays to be honest!

a lady also rear ended me at about 5mph and the bar saved me. so yea....rear bar was also tested! :dancin:

I tried to pm you back but your box is full. Sounds good, but I am nowhere near the turnpike. I take either Route 9 or Route 18 down to 287.





BlkSS1755, I saw your thread when I did a search. I saw the holes it left in the bumper and I don't know if I would like looking at them. Thanks for the help.

BlkSS1755, thanks again for those threads. I think it is something with the 2003 silver Sport Editions and the sport bumper. It is weird that we have the same exact truck and the same problem.

Hahahha... but that's really not even funny.

When I worked for Toyota, the service writer had to do a "walk around" of every single car that came in for service. He/she noted any damage and recorded it right in front of the customer.

The whole reason we had to do this is because too many customers blamed us for damage that was already there.
 
It's funny cause I never damaged any cars and I've seen customers sware on their grave it was not damaged like that, some of the dealerships use digital cameras on cars that are damaged, the date and time stamp is a real bitch slap in the customers face:bash:

Sux to hear about your sport bumper. Those things are the worst. Last winter mine got cracked in the same area on both sides when I parked and tapped a pile of snow and ice that was as high and the lower bumper.

My dealer said a bunch of owners had the same problem with their sport bumper being so fragile. I emailed Toyota customer service and told them that I was dissatisfied with the quality of the bumper. Amazingly, they took care of it and replaced the bumper with a new one :eek: and they had my dealer give me a rental for the day while my truck was in getting the new sport bumper.

Just wanted to let you know that could be a route to attempt. However this will happen again, as mine was hit in a parking lot and is cracked again.

I ended up replacing it with another bumper as well. The dealer was very nice to me and didn't charge labor and discounted the bumper. They also gave me a loaner for the time it was in. I knew I couldn't live with holes in my front bumper so that is why I replaced it. The writer told me that she had to replace the same bumper on another 4Runner the day before and the crack was in the same area. A few days after I had this one installed, I accidentally bumped a snow mound in a parking lot (nothing that would come close to damaging the real bumper on the truck). I swear my heart skipped a beat. I jumped out of my truck and checked the sport bumper and luckily no crack. I am just hoping it will stay that way!!
