Finally decided on some components for my audio build up after some great help from Airbur, Archangel, and especially clemsonfan.

Anyway here is what I ordered today.

Nice setup and that is one pricey amp but I'm considering an Alpine too. I've already got a Bazooka powering my MTX sub.

Let us know how it sounds.

I just picked up Kicker components off ebay and kept the total under $150 for at CC it would've rung up at over $300.

yea got everything off ebay today. I trust it from ikesound ebay store.

Amp was 350

speakers were 105 and 175 so it helped!
 
Nice buys. I hope I helped you a little and gave you some good advice. I'm also glad that you didn't buy all that stuff from Crutchfield.

That is a really nice amp. I'm sure you will be happy with it.

Nice choice on amp too. I would recomend looking at an Alpine Type R because it compares favorably to the W3. The only problem is that it would want more than 300 watts.

I'm also glad that you used caraudio.com. I'm sure you will get a quality box and that it will sound great.

What wire are you using?

Let us know how it sounds and possibly post some pics of what it looks like when you get it and how you installed it.
 
Yea definitely Clemsonfan. I couldnt have done it without our late night instant messaging session.

I havent picked out wiring yet. I am getting it professionally installed and he wants 90 and 50 for his amp wiring kit and line out converter respectfully. I am still up in the air with respect to that. If I were to go elsewhere I would want a kit...Im really leaning to just use his stuff.

Again, I am getting it professionally done because I dont want to screw it up.

How loud is a 300 watt sub?

Will it shake mirrors etc?

Make sure that you get 1/0 wire. It will be worth it. I would only buy from him if it is Kicker or Knukoncepts (sp?). Do you know what kind his is?

I think getting it professionally done is a great idea. It will be done quicker and probably better.

With 300 watts don't expect too much. It's not going to rattle your brain out. I tried to find some videos on youtube real quick, but could not find any good ones. You might want to spend some time there.

If you are aiming for SQ, 300 watts will be plenty for your needs. You can get decently loud I suppose on just 300 RMS, but of course the more watts your using the louder it will be.
 
yea we will see about the bass. Im sure it will be more than enough especially compared to stock.

if not i can always add.

I am probably getting my friends alpine 10" type r sub and Rockford Fosgate sub at the end of the month.

how will those two things together sound?
 
Hey clemson this is my last set of questions. Im on knuknocetz website and going to get some wire. How many feet of 1/0 gauge wire 20?

How many RCA cables should I get and what length. Keep in mind I have a line out converter.

What about in line fuse? Battery terminal hookups?

Remote-on for amp?

Lastly, what about a line out converter? Which one do you recommend?

I would not mix the subs. I don't think that would sound good at all. I would probably just sell them both or use it somewhere else.

I'll answer your other questions later. I have to go somewhere.

I just got back. Sorry for the wait.

When I got my subs installed I had the amp mounted on the back of the rear seats. Depending on where you have your amps mounted the wire length will vary. I had 20' of wire and it was enough to run from the battery to the amp and also to ground the amp. I do have a 3rd Gen, so you might need more. You could try to guess by doing some measurements and add like 3-5 more feet on top of that.

You could get a kit from ebay or maybe from knukonceptz's website. I did noticed that they don't include RCA's or other stuff.

For the line out converter I don't think it really matters. You could get the one from Crutchfield, from the installer, or ebay.

You will need speaker wire. I got 25' in my kit and I think that was way too much, but I only got two subs installed.

So you will need the following:

1 Line Out Converter
1 In Line Fuse Holder with 200-300 amp fuse
1 Distro Block (if your running multiple amps) Make sure you get the correct kind too You will want 1/0 in and probably 1/0 out, depending on the wire you choose.
X number of feet of speaker wire
20 or more feet of power wire
X number of 1/0 ring terminals
X number of feet of RCA's I'm almost positive that each amp has two RCA ports
X number of feet of speaker wire
I tried to look up the turn on wire, but could not find an answer, maybe try searching on caraudio again



Alot of this stuff can be bought from ebay, knukonceptz, and caraudio.
 
Oh yea Im thinking that after all this nice ecquip im going to be disappointed with the sound quality due to the stock HU. Do you think I should get a JL clean sweep or an entirely new HU.

I just hate the look of after market HUs!!

I would go for a new HU. Get a double din touch screen and you should be really happy. I know that the Alpine CDA 9887 is a really good HU for SQ. It is single din though, and you probably not like it's look.

That's probably a good idea. Get a nice double din and you will be good to go.

That looks really nice. I don't think you could really go wrong with a double din touch screen made by Kenwood or Alpine.

You also have the option to add navigation, which is sweet. You can also hook up your iPod and bluetooth if you have one. With these higher end units you have a TON of options. I'm sure you'll find a nice one.
 
I think you'll be very happy with the JL speakers - probably happier than with the Kappas. Good choice. I was going to go with some JL's before my local installer got something else they wanted me to try.
