Looking at a 06 Sport. Is it worth it?

As the title says, I'm looking at a 2006 SE. The stealership is asking $15,995.00. It's a 2 hour drive to see it. If I like it enough I'll be trading in my 98 SR5 (2WD).

My 98 has just over 130k on it. I really want a 4WD and actually like the body of the 4th gen better than my 3rd gen. I've been holding off on modding the 98 because I've been waiting for a 4th gen. Could this be the one?

Is it worth it or is the price too good to be true for Northern California? I know that in the 3rd gen forum they have a sticky on what to look for when looking at buying a vehicle. I'll be using Toyota 4Runner Purchasing and Invoice Pricing :ranger:

I've been looking for over a year now. Wanted an 09 Urban Runner for the longest time. But with tax returns coming and being transfered this coming season I doubt I'll get another opportunity like this.

17k is kind of high for 127+k 06 Sport, you probably can get them to drop down since private resale value is about 13k.

Also look around the boards, you can find nice already built 4th gen rigs for decent prices.

I think that's high. Probably 14k. There's a nice Black '06 Limited V8 4x4 in Missouri that I passed on (I wanted older body style) with 114k for $14.5

It's been metered and checked out, solid truck, PM me if interested I'll send you the dealer's name.

if I were looking to spend $16-$17k on an 06, it would have around 80-90k miles on it. Fwiw

Oh forgot to mention, if you do buy a V8 Runner with over 100k mileage make sure they did a timing belt and water pump replacement on it.

Thank you all for the great info and support. I spoke with the dealer and told him (politely) that I thought the price was a little high. So he began to talk about financing and such. I cut him off and explained that if I were to buy a vehicle it would be cash on the barrel. I hate debt.
