Looking at a 2002 SR5

I am looking at a 2002 SR5 with 82k. The timing belt was changed at 72k. One concern I have is with the "Pink Milk Shake" situation.

How do I check for this?

The anti freeze is green and clear. The tranny fluid is red and clear. When I checked the tranny fluid the vehicle was not running. The fluid was half way up the dip stick. I thought that was strange.

Checking the fluids is the best way. If they're both clear then your in the clear for now. I took these two things from the buyers thread:

"When a milkshake strikes, you will notice your transmission will not want to shift or hold a gear when moving."

"As far as detecting one that may have already happened.. When the seller mentions anything about a replaced radiator and transmission having been completely flushed at the same time, that is a BIG sign."

If your worried about it you can replace the radiator for 150 and get a B&M cooler for another 50 or so. But aslong as it holds a gear and the fluid is clear you have nothing to worry about currently.
