Looking at a 2007 4x4

I'm going to look at a 2007 4x4 tomorrow with 157k miles I'm not familiar with the 4x4 on the 4Runner so if someone could tell me what the lights on the dash should do when I put it in 4 hi and 4 low I would really appreciate it, I know there are issues with an actuator and that if it doesn't engage it will blink or something but I really don't know exactly what, also if there is anything else I should look out for, thanks

Bring a hammer and inspect underbody for any evidence of rust / spray paint to cover it up

The 4WD lights will flash for a few seconds, then stay on once it engages. If they just flash and don't go solid, that's a problem.

If 4low doesn't engage it will beep loudly at you, with lights probably flashing on the dash. Make sure you put it in neutral and follow the correct procedure, and if 4low engages correctly you will instantly notice the low range engine revs and noticeable shifts.

Not sure about switching to 4hi as I have the full time 4wd.
