Time could be coming. Wanted to hear some of your thoughts while I'm spending the weekend deciding.
99 4Runner Highlander. Black/Gray-Blue 226k. 4x4 auto.
2 owner, well maintained. Green Bay native for most of its life. Last 2 years approx. in SoCal. Plenty of records. Regular maintenance. Clean carfax.
At the moment I have him at $3,700 out the door. Not sure I can get him any lower.
So here's the skinny. The truck overall is in great shape. Shifts excellent, runs great. All power works, a/c etc. 4wd was tested briefly and responded very well. Now with the meh. There are some rust spots here and there but nowhere near the rust I would expect from WI. The frame, etc. has never been painted so I've had a solid look at it all. A couple body mounts looked pretty rusty, the belly skid and the complete rear axle. Squeaky front right suspension, but that's kind of null since this thing is going to be built fairly quickly. There are 2 spots on the body, dime sized maximum, where there seems to be rust bubbles underneath the paint..one on rear tailgate, and one on driver pillar running up the windshield. From what I can tell this truck has never been repainted. The rear bumper as well but again I will be building one so not too much of a worry.
Also, keep in mind I have a real shot to buy my 4runner back, although it's over double what I'm talking about here, so I'm weighing that. Truth is if I get this one I can get back to where I was in a few months so I'm not too worried.
