Hello,
First post here but have been lurking for a while. I'm in the market for a 4wd vehicle. Mainly used as a driver but also will see duty on the deer lease and rock crawling at the local off road park (Hidden Falls Adventure Park). I'd prefer to get something from 1990 and later as I prefer that body style and a solid front axle with an automatic but I'm not even going to pretend to know squat about these vehicles. Last time I was around one was 1994 and I was 9 years old at the time. I do need it to be dependable and reliable with little maintenance. I'm very mechanically inclined and have spun wrenches for many years but don't need a maintenance headache (that's what my 350z is for).
I know dependable and reliable and rock crawling don't go together so I feel I should clarify. Aside from any breakage that I may induce from off roading, I don't want something that I'm going to have to constantly maintain and baby sit. Just want to be able to get in and go, regular fluid changes, nothing exotic like rebuilding the head every 50k miles or what not. Are the v6's and autos solid in these?
So with that being said, what's the perfect 4runner to find to meet my long wish list :frusty: I'm still searching and reading the forums but thought I'd start with a thread and at least get a direction to start heading and what to look for as I start looking at these.
Thank you for the help.
Tyler
