Looking for a Shadow Mica Sports Edition 4X4

They're out there, just have to be patient. I ended up flying from Dallas to Kansas City to buy mine. Drove it back. I was in a bit of a rush because my previous 4Runner was totaled and I still looked for about a month before that one came up. Good luck.

There are out there but will be harder to find. I remember i was obsessed with wanted a black one along with all the other things that were a must (V8, 4x4, Sport Edition, 06model +). But sometimes its going to be hard to find everything you may want. I got everything i wanted but instead went with White. Flew out to Vegas and drove it back to CA and couldn't be happier.

Keep looking around, i am sure your stumble upon it. Your gonna have to be really patient.

I think for me the main thing is the color :artist:

I don't know what your price range is but check out autotrader. It let's you filter the cars pretty well but unfortunately there's no way to see just sport editions. You can type in sport edition but you'll miss a bunch because most of the non-toyota dealers just classify it as an SR5 since that's what Carfax shows. And I wouldn't try to filter the colors either because the non-toyota dealers also classify it as black instead of Grey or Charcoal. I know you want a Sport Edition but here is a nice limited in your area.

Its 18K max, my ’99 is sold for 8K.
My search words are just: Toyota 4Runner

and then I go through it all, I don’t want to limit myself and miss one

Ya, the benefit is that non toyota dealers also price them like an SR5 cause they don't know any better. That's how I got a good deal on my first one.

The only issue with buying from a non-Yota dealer is that the vehicle will not be 'Certified', which basically means NO warranty. This didn't bother me at all because,...

The V8’s are all time 4WD. When you use the 4WD in a V6 they say it uses more fuel. So if its all time I would think it would suck your tank dry? I don’t know just asking. :wow2:

My V8 4x4 gets basically the same mileage as my V6 4x4 (part time) Tacoma did (stock vs. stock). And I would actually get better mileage in the V8 runner than the Tacoma when I'd go snowboarding. Driving up the hills was effortless for the V8, almost never needed to downshift. I was getting 20-21 mpg round trip with the boards on the roof, and lifted with just the 33" tires (no steel bumpers yet)

Now that I have the lift, larger tires, and steel bumpers, winch, dual battery, fridge, recover gear.. etc.., it still gets decent mileage, but not like it used to. Last time I took a 350 mile trip and was able to get 18mpg on the fwy (diving conservatively, and calculated mileage/gallons, not the built-in trip computer). Most of my friends in their lifted V6 FJs, don't even come close to 15mpg.

Personally, I wouldn't get a V6 after having the V8. I recently had my first 2008 totaled, and went and got another 2008 V8 4x4. I test drove the new 2010 4Runners, and there was no way I was going back to the V6 (especially since they gained 400lbs). The torque is just too nice.. I think though that the V6 is much more acceptable in the 4th than the 5th because it's lighter.

Yeah, the MPG is not that different. Officially listed as 2 mpg different on the HWY between 4WD 4.0L and 4WD 4.7L. The only reason to get a 4.0L is b/c you can buy a TRD supercharger for it. lol No SC for the 4.7L.

I had to wait 3 months to find my Shadow Mica SE, I was looking in a 500 mile radius and the perfect one just popped up at my local dealer, just be patient. Good luck!

well Im in LA, and been looking private party....glad I saw this thread as looks like more dealers have 4x4 4Runners in San Diego....

Color doesnt matter to me, nor trim level...I want 4x4 and a V8, in the $18k range if possible and a good deal in SoCa somewhere! Ive been looking and looking private party, good deals go fast...or nice ones are listed so high and folks dont sell them fast but wont budge on price, and dealerships up here sell them for $5-7k more than private party no joke....and then one I dang near bought and was so excited for two weeks, when I finally got to see it in person the interior was trashed, undercarriage had dents and mud and thing was wheeled a ton obviously.....so that was a bummer....

You talked me into it. So if I left it basically stock with some AT tires I should get great milage yeh. :surfer:

I commute w/it so it has 97k. Right now I average between 18.6.
Fantastic 4.7 V-8 engine (260hp/305lbs torque) mated to the ultra smooth 5-spd automatic, a perfect combination!
Specs: X-Reas Sport Suspension, Locking Center Differential, Tow Package, Roof Rack, Hill Descent, Traction Control, Stability Control,
4-Wheel ABS, Power Windows/Locks, Dual Power Seats, Single Disc CD with Factory iPod/MP3 hook up in center console.
Power Moonroof and Rear Window (best feature!), Running Boards and Roof Rack.
2006 has factory projector headlights and factory L.E.D. tail lights.
Husky Floor Liners for all surfaces so carpet is protected from dirt/snow.
Last year I put on some BFG All-Terrain. They really make the truck look even better! Plus the Sport Edition has the factory hood scoop.
Brakes done 8 months ago. Truck needs nothing. I run full synthetics and there is Zero rust.
Amazing Truck, but we now need a 3rd Row. KBB w/96k = $18,980, I'm asking a reasonable $17,800.
Over 1yr and 8,000 miles left on bumper-to-bumper warranty

And I will say this.. I've never heard anyone regret getting the V8, but there have been some that have regretted going with the V6.
