Looking For Late 5th Gen Owner With Seat Risers In Or Around Vancouver Island

Hi there, 3rd gen owner here. I have a friend on Vancouver Island in Canada who's looking for a new offroader and the current 4Runner has hit his radar. He's been comparing it with other vehicles in the market niche and is impressed with it - except for the seats. He is long of inseam and the stock setup in the 2022 TRD-OR he test drove caused physical pain in his legs and thighs after a while. Research seems to show that many people in this situation fit seat risers and that seems to solve the problem.

However, he doesn't want to pull the trigger on a capital purchase like this if he can't drive it long distance due to the seats. No dealer on the island has a 4R with risers available to check out, nor will they let him bring risers to install and test drive.

That being the case, I thought I would ask around and see if there were any late 5th gen owners here on or around Vancouver Island that have seat risers installed that would be willing to have my friend come out and see if that would address his problem with the seats. Is it the height of the seat or the angle of the seat cushion? Many people with this problem change the angle of the seat cushion with something like this: FRONT SEAT JACKERS(R) (2003-2022 4RUNNERS, GX, AND FJ)
– Desert Does It There are units available to raise either the front or the back of the seat to change the angle.

My SR5 Premium 4Runner has power adjustable drivers seat that includes adjustment for the height and angle of the seat cushion. I believe that all the higher trim levels also have that seat adjustment. That should be sufficient to solve your friends problem without needing any additions.

It seems to be the angle of the seat - he didn't notice any angle adjustment on the 2022 TRD OR that he test drove that I'm aware of. Here's what he had to say about it:

(Context: He drove a Wrangler, Bronco and 4R back to back earlier this week, then wrote up his experience: ) "Why do my right knee and lower leg feel like they’ve been lit on fire? Oh no…. Dammit, this thing has Jeep seats! Only, not as bad. There’s some actual angle to the seat bottom, but not enough, and they are indeed Jeep short."

Those Seat Jackers were exactly the units we'd found in research - but he'd like to try out a truck with them installed to make sure they'd work before he pulls the trigger on a 4R.
