Looking for Lift

Here's some pics of my new OME 883/891 lift. I sit 38 5/8" in the front and 38 3/4" in the back (ground to fender) w/ new 285s.

Need I say more? Damn nice lift. I couldn't be any more happier. With all the extras that Steve @ Sonoran Steel includes in his kits is well worth the money.
The ride is awesome. It is really comfortable.

Haha you're missing the front right mudflap just like I am. The lift looks great what are your plans now? Tires, locker, etc?

To the op, here's a couple pics of my 4R. Lift is:
Front: OME 881 springs with top out spacers and OME comfort schocks
Rear: OME 906 springs and OME comfort shocks. Installing three 10mm trim spacers in the near future.

Nice lookin 4Runner you have there. Very nice. I'm on the hunt for a passenger side mudflap for sure.

Just bought new tires in Oct. and I have a factory E-Locker.

Do any of you guys with lifts feel more top heavy while going around corners or doing donuts? Like your trucks' going to tip over?

No, but I think I do drive a little slower now than when my truck was stock w/ 225s. I've been looking for pics of when I 1st bought it, but those were the days of pagers and 35mm cameras.

This thread has been really helpful. Thanks everyone for their input. :bravo:
Anything else I should know that you can think of? Anything at all?

Actually after I went with my lift and the 285's I felt less body roll. Maybe because factory suspension was overdue for replacement. I don't do doughnuts but I do a lot of off-camber stuff and it feels nice and stable. I also replaced my sway bar bushings and steering rack bushings and that made a big difference.

Basic wrenches/sockets, floor jack, nothing special. Takes about a 4-8 hours depending on your experience. I would have SS pre-assemble the front struts so you don't have to compress the new coils and assemble them yourself - this is the worst part of the job. Don't mess with the ball joints themselves, just take out the 4 bolts on each lower BJ and you'll be able to get the new struts in w/o having to break the seals on the BJs.

The rear shocks are a ***** to R&R because there is such little room to work with for the upper mounts. It's easier if you don't care about your old shocks and just sawsall them.

Just wondering if you guys running the Toytech an Sonoran lifts ever have any front axle issues?? I am considering one of these lifts but don't want to do it if it will put excess angle and wreak havoc on my axles or boots. Thanks for any info.

My stock axles didn't like the new angle after 10+ years of being at stock. They flung a lot of grease and after about a year the boots were torn so I replaced both 1/2 shafts. I'm still on the replacement set and have no signs of any problems (about a year and a half now), but I did do a diff drop at the time I replaced the CVs. Do the diff drop when you install the lift and your stock CVs have a better chance. I would expect to replace them and if you don't, all the better.

x2 on what Brian said. I cranked my CO's up top high at first and had issues tearing boots but no CV breakage.

So doing the diff drop will put me in the clear for CV boot tearing??? Or will I have an issue with tearing no matter what....
