So doing the diff drop will put me in the clear for CV boot tearing??? Or will I have an issue with tearing no matter what....

You have a better chance of not having stock CV problems w/ a diff drop, but it's still common. It's rare to have a problem after you replace your stock CVs, but a diff drop is a must!

Interesting.... so if I replace my stock CV's while doing the lift/diff drop, do I need a particular kind of CV joint or do I just get new stock ones?

New OEM ones would be fine, I went with Superior brand axles and like them. I would see how your stock ones do 1st (before you just replace them). Even if they leak, they'll still probably last a year or 2 before they break.

I just did toytec coilover lift and its leaking even after the diff drop, rather than just put hose clamps around it, after leaking for several days, took it to a friends shop, gonna have the cvs replaced and they are gonna put a special cv boot on them, its not rubber, some other stuff, supposed to be more flexible and my axle angle wont matter as much, getting them from CVJ Axles - Remanufactured Axles & Power Racks

yes no matter what the CV's will have more stress on them. The diff drop helps with the angle not being changed as much but can still end up tearing or leaking. The big thing to pay attention to is if you go with Toytec lift with threaded body CO is not to be tempted to adjust to high. Take before and after measurements and adjust to 2.5-3in range. I have been wheeling my truck regularly for a year now with now breaks and an occasional tear.

Yes, the lower the angle, the less stress. That's not to say that lifting it will be too much stress, but always more than stock ride height.

If you're not lifting it specifically for off road ability, but more for looks, then a body lift is another option which won't affect the CVs at all. Just a thought.

Is there any issue with running a 3" suspension lift with a 1" body lift? Will ride quality be altered?
And what's the deal with adjustable coilovers? In what situation would one what to make an adjustment?

Proudrunner is running the Ultimate lift with a 1" body and doesnt have any issues. The adjustment is handy so that when you add a front bumper you can adjust for the weight and bring it back up to a 3" then when you add your winch you can adjust for the added weight again. If you go with the standard coil set-up then once you add or take weight away you cant adjust your preload for it

Toy Tech was the best for me. They were out of the ultimate lift, so I went with the OMU. Works perfect nice ride easy to install! Hope this helps

jjarr208, thanks for the picks and nice truck BTW. I'm leaning towards the s.s 1.2 lift but I'm still having trouble committing. It's a lot of money but i know that once I bite the bullet I'll be stoked. Tax return should be in the post very soon :banana:

I have a matching spare that I put on the roof rack when I travel away from home. As far as factory spare I just took it off-- no special setup
