i currently have a nice HU and also my Amp is a Kicker

* 14.4V:
o 120 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms
o 170 watts x 4 chan. @ 2 ohms
o 325 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohms
* 12.5V:
o 70 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms
o 135 watts x 4 chan. @ 2 ohms
o 250 watts x 2 chan. @ 4 ohms

Reason i choose this at first was because it has the bass control knob you mount up front.

So any one have ideas of what subs i coudl go with?

I thought about making the kicker my mid/high amp and gettign a pure sub amp and new subs.

Any advise be appreciated.

use that 4 channel amp to run some nice focal components, and use a d class amp to run subs, 2 channel or mono channel is good for subs, 4 channel amps will not supply enough power, and it will kill ur amp.

Use two of the channels for front components. Bridge the other two channels for the sub. Use Headunit power for the rear fill speakers. Should be plenty of power to go around unless your looking to have the whole neighborhood hear you.

There's no real need for a bass control knob. If your gains are set correctly, your HU should give you plenty of bass boost if needed.

Check out elemental design subs:

They use power very efficiently with small enclosure requirements.

Is your amp a ZX650.4? If it is, I have one in my boat and it's crazy powerful, thinking about putting it in my 4runner. The bass knob is cool, but I agree that using a class D for the Sub might be better. I'd also be a little concerned with using the factory speakers with that amp ..just my 2 cents.
