Looking for Treo Mount

I'm looking for something sturdy to mount my Treo 700 in the 4Runner and wonder if anyone has suggestions. The phone costs too much to let bounce around the inside of the car. I searched the web and various mounts are available, but I can't tell from the info provided if I could find a place in the 4Runner to put it. I want to have the display fairly easy to look at while driving, but prefer not to have it on top of the dash. I also need to be able to have access to the charger and earphone jack on the bottom. I recently picked up a stereo headphone adapter plug at Radio Shack to play MP3 files through the 4Runner Stereo. 1st try looks like the phone automatically mutes the MP3 player during phone calls which should work pretty good. I usually miss calls while driving with the stereo turned up because I don't hear the phone ring, which this should cure.

I just bought the Belkin car cup-holder adapter for pocket pcs/smart phones, then I cut off the bottom of the adapter that fits into the cupholder. Next, I took the 2 rubber sleeves that come with the cup-holder adapter, and wrapped them around the bottom post where I had just cut the bottom off. I then gracefully shoved the post (with rubber sleeves) down into that little slot next to the shifter. There, I can leave my car charger plugged in, and the rubber sleeves keep the thing secure enough for me. I've bumped it a few times, and I'm not the most laid back driver that I know, so this thing has held up for me for about 6 months....(As you can tell in the pics, I'm a messy mug, so all the Adrian Monks out there, please forgive me....)

I purchased this setup from Bracketron recently. It vibrated a little until I put a piece of duble sided tape hidden down at the base of the mount inside the glove box. Pretty clean and solid setup for my Treo 700P.

I just installed the ProClip for my Google G1 (TMobile). Great setup.
G1 holder is p/n 843868 with 3 in 1 adapter.
The bracket to mount to the drivers inside vent like seen in another post with their Razor IRON CLAD LOU is p/n 853562, this simply clips into the vent opening, very secure.
This is just too easy and effective to not do it for $100 for both parts.
Bonus. The mount has 3 jacks, really 4. Your phone plugs into #4.
1) is a usb port to provide power to your phone.
2) is a jack to plug into your 4R's mp3 jack. Your output sound goes into the vehicles stereo, even your phone calls. Need to use AUX on the stereo.
3) is a head phone jack. The G1's headphone has an adapter with a microphone, most phone probably come with this. Plug this into port 3. I taped the mic to the top of the steering column with black electrical tape.

Far superior to Bluetooth in my humble opinion.

If your want to hear the music on from your phone, press AUX on the stereo and play on your phone. If you want to receive or place a call (while in AUX), just do it. The stereo, really your phone, pauses while you take the call.

One issue is a buzz your get from the power adapter. There is a bulletin from Toyota to get it fixed. There is a post for this in the last couple days. I bought the inline filter from Crutchfield before realizing Toyota has a fix.

Imagine that, a cup holder being a "bad design" to hold wireless phones...lol...That's why they're called cup holders and not phone holders.

I have a gooseneck mount, from RAM I think, that used to hold my Sirius Sportster 4 in my old Colorado. It mounted to the seat bolt at the floor and stuck up beside/between the console and seat and worked great. Something like that could be adapted to phones. I don't know if the seat bolts are setup properly in a T4R for it to work, but it was a great solution for vehicles whose seats do have a bolt in the correct position.

Personally, I just use the Bluetooth deal with my nav sys and leave my phone on my hip. My phone (Samsung Glyde) does MP3s, but I use an MP3 player (Samsung 8GB touchscreen) through the AUX IN instead - if I even use it - sat radio is just as good IMO. Even so, since it is going through the AUX IN and the factory radio/nav sys system, a phone call mutes it just like it mutes radio, CD, MP3CD or whatever I'm listening to at the time.

I never liked the holders that clipped into the HVAC vents, because 1) they block that portion of the air from coming out and 2) makes the phone get too hot when it's winter and you're forcing warm/hot air out the vents.
