Looking to buy this 4Runner, please take a look

Hi guys,

I have read through the buyer's guide for 4Runners and found that incredibly helpful.

I am looking at this 4Runner that is for sale about 2.5 hrs away from me.

I had the dealer send me a carfax of the 4Runner but did not see that the waterpump has been changed, although the timing belt was changed at 60k (early I thought)

I asked the dealer if they knew if the waterpump had been changed and they said that they only knew what the carfax said.

Does this seem like a good deal if I negotiated them down on price?

I will try and call the dealership that did the maintenance on the vehicle to find out if the waterpump has been replaced.

What price do you think this should sell for if the waterpump has been replaced or if it has not been replaced?

If it was done at 60k, its ready for another one, TB and WP. So it doesn't really matter if the WP was changed last time at this point.

Looks nice at first glance, seems a bit low for dealer pricing though. Makes me a little suspicious.

EDIT: Nvm, I see it says auction pricing.

I did notice the driver's side rear fender gap is a lot wider than the passenger's side.

And yes the WP/TB would need redone if not recently, what does that run?

TB/WP change can run anywhere from $700 to $1700, depending where you are located. This should include a new tensioner, idlers, thermostat, and new drive belts.

The good: I love this color, it looks great. No trailer hitch, so the transmission has not had to tow anything. And dude, it has a locker.

The bad: If you are planning to move the seat for a test drive, make sure they have a new switch because it is missing on the seat. Also, where are the floor mats? Do they have the cigarette lighter? No pics of the underneath carriage nor more importantly, the engine bay. If you can get some of either or both, post them.

It does look good, and it is more than likely worth the drive. But before heading out, get pics of the undercarriage and engine bay.

I emailed the dealer to see if they can answer a few of those questions and send me pictures of the engine bay and undercarriage.

Also it looks as if the idle is a little low; maybe something just to keep in mind.

I'd get on the phone rather than email, it shows them you have an active interest.

The rear bumper is a little tweaked, but whatever, those are a dime a dozen.

Its got 4wd, lowish miles, looks clean has an E-locker... Around here, this is a steal... but people are Toyota freaks around here so the prices are inflated. Id personally buy it for that price.
