Looking to confirm something with aiming headlights

Just to preface, I read the 4trail website and saw a video but the video was a little confusing.

The adjusting nut for the headlights look like this:

10mmbolt, wavy thing and I guess the shaft

so something like O~~---------

One video said the nut doesn't turn anything. Am I supposed to turn the wavy part? The part that looks like this from the top of that hole? ~~

The bolt head (rear access) and sawtooth (top access) both adjust the headlight, they're just different ways of accessing the mechanism. If you watch the sawteeth as you turn the bolt head, they turn together.

The sawtooth top access is for use with a Philips head screwdriver (or maybe some other specialized tool I'm unaware of?) and I've found that it doesn't work very well- even a perfectly sized Philips head can eat up the plastic sawteeth when it skips. The rear bolt is much easier to turn with a small ratchet but it's harder to get your hand in there.

Gotcha!!! Cause I was reading the article and said "I just used a screwdriver to turn it" and I'm like huh? A screwdriver.

Unfortunately, I live in an apartment complex and find a flat ground and garage that doesn't have a slope the the screet is kinda hard.

I marked the top of my sawtooth with a sharpie then turned the back nut two revolutions with a two inch front lift. It came out exactly where it should when aiming the lights per Toyota’s standard, which is found in the TRD Pro suspension install instructions.

Wow, this is an AWESOME tip!!!

Also, when looking from the top and in front of the vehicle, 2 complete revolutions to my right correct? Which means, if I was looking at the nut as if I was 3 inches tall, turning it counter-clockwise?

According to my notes, in case i ever want to put it back to stock, I turned the nut counterclockwise, looking forward as if you were seated in the driver seat. The wrench starting at the passenger side and rotating toward the driver side.

It also said in the Toyota instructions to make sure the final adjustment is made by turning the adjuster clockwise. So go a little past in CC direction then bring it back. Don’t know why this is important but Toyota thought is was important enough to include in the directions so I did it.
