Looking to mod my (new) 07 Sport 4wd!!

HELLO ALL!!!!!!

I recently just bought an 07 Sport 4wd. Leather seats sun roof, all that good stuff. Instead of posting multiple threads, I am going to ask a few questions in this single thread(hoping that's ok).

1) I know I don't have the money for a lift right now, but I eventually want one. I've been told 4th gens have the lowest ground clearance of them all. I don't do a lot of hardcore mudding per say, but I would like to not scrape my skid plate when hopping a ditch. I would want to keep about a 17'-18' wheel and no more than 34' tires. I'm pretty unfamiliar with lifts but I've been reading around on this forum and I hear the terms suspension lift, body lift, air lifts,and spacers. I don't want a crazy lift, I just want something to get that skid plate up off the ground and a bit more clearance. I don't think i want any more than a 2.5"-3" lift. Give or take something along the lines like this. Around how much money am I looking at doing something like this?

2)The first things I am going to do to my Runner is install HIDs and dome/map/tag leds. I've watched tons of videos and I think I just need someone to tell me what to buy at this point. I want white(no blue) hids. I was contemplating buying new headlight lenses(the ones with either halos or led looking aux lights in them(i have no idea if i'm using the right terminology.)Ones that look like http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/25392-toyota-4runner-led-halo-projector-headlights-9.html. I would like some pointers if you'd be ever so kind as to which brand/temps are nice. Again, I want WHITE so I assume around 5000-6000 depending on brand? If I want to do low beam/high beam/fog I need 3 different conversion kits am i correct? Again, pointers for brands and possible links would be wonderful :)

3)Last question I PROMISE! In my Runner, in the 3 center console buttons, I have DAC(downhill assist control) as you already know i'm sure, and two other "faded" out buttons. I've been asked when my gf, mom, dad ride in passenger seat if I have seat warmers. The dealership I bought my truck from said it does NOT have seat warmers. The dealership looked up my VIN and said it does NOT have seat warmers but dammit if these seats don't get WARM! (Night time with A/C blasting) I opened the center panel and it has 3 wires going to each button. Spacers are the cheapest way to lift it, but a set of Bilstein 5100 should be around $400 shipped to you. I'd definitely suggest the 5100's over a spacer lift.
 
dont throw HIDs into there without swapping out the projectors.

pick up this kit and use your OEM headlights. you could even black them out while you have them open, if you want that look. a 4300-4500k setup will get you the most lumens on the road. and afterall, thats what headlights are about right...SEEING well!!!

Will these projectors be good if I decide to install hids?
 
So I called my local shop(big boy customs) and they said to install bilstein 5100 would cost me around 400ish plus 99 for alignment. After 500 miles I come back and they check everything and re torque wheels.
 
We road in a friend's car one night with seat heaters. that was the first thing my wife asked if I could have in my truck.

Ripoff!! Why not try to install yourself? auto zone rents tools and you would learn a little about your truck in the process
 
Can you take off three nuts and remove one bolt? If you can, you just lifted the front of your truck!!

How are you confused w the headlights? replace your oem projecter with the projector that comes in that kit. Not only will you get a better cutoff, but it uses true OEM style D2S bulbs. Don't be that guy that just throws in bulbs to your current headlights. And that Egay projector will not even be close to the output of the TRS projector. Not all projectors are created the same.
 
I agree with some of the others, I'd install the 5100s myself. There are plenty of helpful threads on this site, and a video or two on YouTube that should help. It's a matter of turning about 5 bolts/nuts on each side and using a little muscle. $400 plus another $100 for alignment is awfully steep for something that can be done in your garage on a Saturday. If you're confident in changing the bulbs out yourself, I guarantee you can figure the suspension out.
 
I'm going to do my HIDs first so I will focus on that for now. So basically anything I want to put HIDs into, I have to put a projector because putting HIDS in a reflector type of housing(my high beams are reflector housing) is a no no? So putting HIDs in my low beams/high beams/fog lights would cost a lot of money? I watch a really long video on youtube where a guy basically converts his reflector housing into a projector housing and honestly I do not think i could do that, nor do i have the needed tools.

I think i'm slowly starting to understand the HID thing more and more. Been watching lots of videos and reading threads on this site. I'm beginning to understand why people just throw conversion kits in their reflector headlights though. It's a lot cheaper and easier than buying projectors and converting reflector housing to projector housing, but the end result looks a lot better if done correctly.

There are all kinds of info in the lift stickies at the top of the forum. Read those. For a budget lift, pick up the 4 5100 shocks from Downsouthmotorsports.Com and a set of rear toytec rear 2" lift springs. That would be a good starting point.

Concerning the HIDs, that video is il relevant as you already have halogen projectors being an 07. But swapping those out for the kit I linked will give you much better results. Again, there are all kinds of retrofit threads if you seaech here and hidplanet.Com forums. I highly suggest calling the retrofit source and getting all your questions answered. You could just get a wire harness, ballasts and rebased 9006 HID bulbs and install in your current headlights. But again, you will get much better light on the road with the D2S projectors and bulbs...and at the end of the day, that's what's it's about right?!

Ok I am all about DIY but this might be a little misleading... Especially for someone that has never done anything like that before.

Tell me how this is misleading. There are three nuts at the top if the shock and a lower shock bolt. That is all there is to removing/installing the front coilover.
 
Well lets see there is the entire issue surrounding the compression of the spring, the fact that what you are putting back in is an inch or 2 longer than what came out which causes problems with the lower control arm. Also I unhooked the swaybar endlinks and the tire rod ends but that is because I figured it was easier than simply trying to work the strut assembly in like threading a needle. On top of that you have wheel speed sensors and brake lines to watch out for. Oh and the fact that what you are wrenching on is all pretty vital to safe operation of the truck at speed on the highway. Regardless, the 3 nuts and a bolt comment is wrong to start with. You have a forth nut(strut shaft). And unless you are only lifting one side you have to double everything. 8 nuts and 2 bolts.
