Looks like I can maybe do plug n play fog lights?!

OK 3rd genners... So I recently installed a new radio and noticed I had an extra harness plug by the traction off button. Something told me that my runner had the option for fog lights. So I,looked under the bumper and I see a harness hanging off the signal wires on both sides. Does this mean I can install fog lights for my runner as long as I get a switch and the lights with mounting hardware? That would be great if this is possible. If anyone has done this please advise.

99-02 yes, 96-98 no.

Lights, fuse, relay and new light control stalk should be all you need if you have the right year(s).

It's an '02. Sorry that I didn't mention that before. I noticed the extra harness when I removed the lower panel under the steering column while running the bluetooth microphone. I have heard of a replacement stalk with the fog switch. Does that mean on the column should be another harness for use with the upgraded stalk or am I relegated with a switch on the lower left panel where I found the harness...

The light stalk with fog switch is plug and play. As long as you have the correct on for our model year. Then, as stated above, mount the lights and plug in, add the relay, and good to go. The extra plug you found is unrelated.

agree with above.....for your year it is plug and play just need to find the correct stalk. They did do a change and I beleive you will have to have one for a 2000 or newer.
I converted my 2000 to factory fogs...bought all from a guy..however the stalk he sold me did not fit my 2000...his was off of a 99 I think. So when I went to the wrecking yard to find a correct one it actually came off a 2002.
the difference is in the male part of the plug in and you cant make one fit the other. The handle "stalk" look the same so cant go by that.

very true....he will need the realy and the fuse...and yes the solara...and maybe some others will fit also..you can prob plug in the part number and see what other models so that if a person is going to a pick and pull

Do you mean the little 2" round cutouts that are plugged, which is where the factory fogs would go?

There are a bunch on amazon that will fit, I haven't quite decided on which I'm going to use yet but I'll let you know when I do. I truly considered the factory fog lamp route but from my research, they aren't that good, to begin with, and for the amount of money it costs to get the parts you can buy a good light bar or set of fogs that have way better output. Crappy used ones are going for $100+ per set on eBay and then you'd have to replace the bulbs, and buy the switch. I figured that a meh set of factory lights in total was going to cost $250+ and you can buy a lot of lightbar for $250. Plus, if you don't plan on keeping your factory bumper forever, the factory fogs will be useless if you upgrade, whereas you can move a set of aftermarket lights to the new bumper.
