Hi all.. I mostly get around in the GM 3800 arena, so yes..if you think you know me... you probably do.

Finance has an 05 4Runner now with about 83K on it. Dealer serviced its entire life up until I came on the scene. Recently browsed the forum regarding the typical hard steering, flushed the fluid and ended up swapping out the pump. (what a breeze after finding the tensioner). On to the next issue.

Meanwhile more about me, I have worked on a lot of different cars while assisting a mechanic buddy. Have most of the usual tools to do things like motor swaps etc. I'm dumb enough to feel knowledgeable about a lot of stuff and smart enough to realize no one knows every thing. While I don't intend on making the 4Runner forum a home.. who knows how involved I'll get.

Off to try and figure out why this one decides to turn on VSS/VSC or whatever the yellow group of three is on the right side of the dash along with the check engine over a P0452. Seems odd to me that it's kicking on traction related lights over an emission pressure code.

Hope to fit in and possibly help someone as well as finding a few answers to my new found Toyota's issues.

Found the reason it likes to light up like a Christmas tree, it's a normal thing. Sweet, that rules out thinking I have more than a stupid evap issue.

Further info bout me, I'm sitting here with my buddies Modis (super SnapOn scanner for anyone unfamiliar with the name), HP Tuners, ALLData and GM ESI as resources as well as the buddy who had his own show and worked at dealerships for about 25 years....and as mentioned... a few tools to turn the bolts etc with. While that seems like a nice set of resources, a dedicated forum often has faster and more accurate answers to questions. :cheers:

Now to go find out if there's something common on the P0452 (I'm hoping there's something Yota missed on the 03-04 fixes)

Off to look up the compatibility of the trucks with scoops. I keep telling my fiancee that it would look cool, she keeps asking me "is it functional". It's no wonder I'm marrying her..that's my usual line for hood scoops.

I'll welcome you officially, as well. Wasn't going to, as I expected you to receive copious welcomes from the guys who really dig into their trucks. It is almost New Years, though.

She's a keeper. That's how I feel about hood scoops, too, but I keep my mouth shut 'cause I know I'm an outlier on the function over form curve.

Thanks for the welcomes.. I know posting is working and all is good.

The 4 Runner is off getting some dealership lovin. Had a small evap leak, low voltage pressure (evap) and steering shaft binding. Wish I knew the truck a bit better to have diag'd these myself. Upside is I played let's make a deal on the costs and got it down $200.

And darn.. I don't get to work under a car dripping snow and fight this shaft. Ohhhhhh darn.
