Loose front driver seat 97 4runner

This is kind of hard to explain, the two holes where the front driver seat is fastened to the floor somehow got torn out and now the seat is loose. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas as to how to fix it. I did some research and found a floor cross member on toyotapartsoverstock.com part # 57452 but I'm not sure this will fix the problem. It's a 97 4runner in line-4 . I would appreciate any help you guys can give, Thanks

I had this happen on my 97 with the bolt closer to the door. The nut that was welded to the floor basically ripped out. I removed the nut and the bolt that were in place. Then drilled a hole in the floorboard of the 4runner. Straight through to daylight.


Got a longer and stronger bolt with several very large washers to prevent it from pulling through. Haven't had a problem with it and it holds very secure.
If you aren't handy with welding (I'm not) I'd suggest this as a cheap quick easy repair. Took 20 minutes.

Raised Front Seat Mounting Bolt

I just noticed that my front passenger seat was loose. The rear right mounting bolt is raised up about 1/2". I've tried tightening it, but it feels like I'm going to snap it. I haven't looked under the carpet to see what's the deal, but I don't think the nut is raised or anything like that. Any suggestions?

This has happened to me to. Actually both driver and passanger front seats. One hole on each side. Basically went to tighten the seat and it just ripped through. Shitty design. The way I fixed it. Was, cut it out into a small square. 1x1 or 2x2 or whatever. Take a good thick big washer. Trace the square and then make the round washer into the square. And weld a nut. Then weld the new piece in.

Page 5. If you look at first photo. Looks closely to the driver seat, left side. You'll see it welded in.

I just drilled through floor board. Coated to prevent rust. Added bolt, two washers, nut, done.

Damn. I guess you can drill through the floor board. But welding it is more ideal for me. OP I didn't read your post. But to remove the seat. Your going to have to loosen all other bolts and yank it out.

Hell, I'd might as well reach out to Toyota and ask that they cover my engine swap cost. Every part on these trucks should show no wear after 20 years. Totally unacceptable!!!!

My floor, at the driver front foot, failed several years ago. It was definitely not correctly engineered.....but Toyota isn't going to fix it....and thinking they will is wishful at best.

I just welded in a 1/4" threaded slug....done. Been in there for years now.
