losing saved passwords

My older Lenovo PC, win 10 1709 build, Core i5. Starting July 15, all saved passwords are gone. No new updates that I know of. Anyone else having this problem? thanks

How/where did you save your passwords? Are you using a password manager (Dashlane/LastPass etc.) or did you save them in your browser?

I had to sign in again for this forum. I use simple p/w for Toyota forums and other stuff. write others down. life is fun

Right... but where your passwords are managed matter.

For example, if you use Google Chrome to manage your passwords, you need to be logged into your browser for it to work.

That would go away if you switched browsers.

Then there are 3rd party tools or software like Dashlane/LastPass/KeyPass. iOS has their own system as well.

Chrome is just Googles web browser. Perfectly fine option for Windows 10.

If you use Edge, which is the Microsoft native option, then your password management is done inside the settings screen of your edge browser. Edge>Settings>Profiles>Passwords

3rd party tool could just be a piece of software that has nothing to do with your web browser. As an example, KeyPass, which is a free password manager is fantastic. It's highly secure, with excellent encryption options, authentication beyond just a simple password, and is open source meaning that its audited by the community to help ensure security and confidence.

No right answer... just preference.

As to why you might be loosing saved passwords, might have to do with not being logged into your own profile within your browser.

There is a difference between saving passwords and saving logins for sites.

If you clear browsing data in your browser, then you'll also clear the logins for sites like these unless you specifically exclude clearing the logins.

Use a password program, then you can use passwords like 2@D$65Vh0&^ and never have to remember or type them.

Saving passwords in browsers is a very bad idea.

Everything has cleared up for now. One of my Utilities wrote back about changing setting, but that didn't cause it. Still do not know what happened. All forums, Ebay, FB, stuff are working fine now. thanks all (still have to sign into this forum).
