Loss of acceleration - 06 4runner V8 4X4

I purchased a used 2006 4Runner V8 with 4X4 a few months ago. As it was used and now has 89,000 miles on it, I had the 90K service with timing belt, drive belt, water pump, thermostat, idler pullies, tensioner, and spark plugs done. The coolant, trans fluid, differential fluid was also replaced.

During the week since the work I have noticed the following:

1) Sometimes when you come to a stop the car seems to jerk forward.
2) Sometimes when you accelerate after stopping at a stop sign the car will have no acceleration for a second or two and will suddenly shoot forward.
3) After about 30 min of driving I sometimes seem to lose a lot of power and the car will accelerate a lot slower then usual. After a few seconds of flooring it, the engine kicks in (not as powerful as usual) and I hear a whining sound.

The dealer drove the car around and is going to do an ECM reprogram and Trans fluid bleed and flush.

Any ideas?

Have you tried reseting the system by disconnecting the batt?I have my timing belt changed(everything in the timing belt package) seven months ago and also the rear diff fluid. Weird that the computer displayed 32 mpg for two days. It has traveled 170 mi and still got a 32mpg according to the computer. I just disconnected the battery and there, I have my 17-18.5 mpg back. Sometimes it needs to re-learn your driving style...specially after a major service.

Good decision to have the dealer diagnose it. Might be more complicated than we think.

I bet it has to do with the pedal and the APS.

i have a 2008 4runner v6 and after i change the oil i have a loss of low end power but kicks in around 4k not sure if u have the same issues but i cant figure it out.

I've experienced this before, especially during the winter. It usually happens when i come to a "rolling stop", see that i can beat the oncoming car, hit the gas and the truck doesn't go! It continues at 10-15mph for a few seconds, enough for the oncoming cars to catch up, then takes off like i hit the NOS button! :zoom: Any thoughts?

Well, if your on slick roads, the tracktion control made be kicking in if you accelerate too fast. That kick before and after a stop may be the lack of lube in the drive shaft spline joints. Search for "driveline clunck".

Happens to me fairly often in the snow. I *think* it's the 4WD engaging and it takes a few seconds for a) it to slip b) think about turning on the 4WD and c) getting the gearing engaged. I don't notice the VSC kicking in but the lag is slightly noticeable especially if you're putting any sort of real power (pedal to the metal for me basically) to the tires.

Just bought my 06 T4R Limited V8 and these exact issues happened after about two days/450 miles.

Naturally my heart dropped as I thought I purchased a lemon either tranny or bad engine but it's revealing to be quite common.

Just curious if there is any new insight or development of opinion/further reasoning to these issues?
1. Lurch while braking right before complete stop
2. Loss of acceleration when performing a rolling stop
3. Whirring noise/loss of acceleration for another 10-15 seconds after 2.

MAF, TB, Plugs, Tranny??
