Loss of power, poor mileage

I recently changed the timing belt and water pump on my 92 4Runner V6 SR5. The vehicle starts fine but slow on acceleration and the gas mileage is horrible.

I think it has something to do with the timing. When I changed my timing belt, I made sure that the marks on the top two pulleys lined up with the yellow dots on the engine and the main pulley at zero (0) mark before the removal and after the installation as per the instruction given to me by the timing belt store.

Did I do something wrong?

Timing belt store??? Never heard of that.

If you can, I would get a manual (i.e., Haynes) and look up the procedure...to verify what they gave you at the store. Never hurts to have a second opinion. They are usually around $20 or less...or you might find one at the library or a used book store.

Or maybe someone here with that generation that has a manual can look it up for you.

Did you verify the timing marks before you took the old belt off?
