Lost GPS Nav

I've got a 2006 T4R with a factory nav system that is constantly lost. I've reset the position numerous times but in no time it will be out to lunch. We've been driving down a major interstate and had it drive off in another direction. It seems as if GPS is not functional but there is no indication I can find that tells you the health of the GPS solution. Just wondering if anyone else has run across this problem. Thanks.

Have you looked for a software update from the Mfg.?

This is why I feel sticking with the small nuvi Garmins is the way to go, They support them and their maps are great. And they don't get lost.

Contact your dealer about this and reference TSB # EL012-06. It's a known bug in the software on the original factory disc on 2006 units and a few of the early 2007 units. If you're still under warranty, they will replace that original factory disc with a corrected version.

The corrected software is also found on the map updates, so another way to solve the problem is to buy a 2007 or later Update Disc. Maybe you can get the dealer to cut you a break on an update instead of trying to get a corrected 2006 disc.

Maybe the sensor got jarred loose in the back and has to be repositioned higher in the back of the dash.

I have factory Nav on my '06 Limited and had a similar problem; mine would put me literally in the Atlantic Ocean when driving on I-95 in FL.

Have you tried recalibrating the unit through the Nav system menu?

I ended up getting the entire unit replaced under CPO warranty @ 42,567 miles. Cost the dealership $2169.94 exactly one year ago and they were not happy. Doesn't say on the invoice what the failure was other than 'internal failure to navigation unit'.

1) Hit Menu>Settings scroll down to page 3 of 3>Calibration

2) Choose the option for 'New Tires' and follow calibration instructions
